  • Love it!

    Hi!

I am 11 years old and I know this sounds weird but one of my major interests is itchiness. I do not have any condition that causes itchiness, but I have loved itchiness since I was three years old. This podcast is great thank you so much for making it. I love it!! Also, could you maybe to an episode about stress and the effect it has on eczema? Thanks!

I have only listened to one episode and I know I am going to learn so much. My daughter has moderate chronic eczema due to environmental allergies. She is literally allergic to grass! She loves to play soccer and it’s been a very difficult road the last few years. She is only 10 and still learning how to take care of herself. My mother has lived with the same condition her whole life and I want my daughter’s quality of life to be so much better and different. I’m hoping to learn more about aller... more

  • Best allergy podcast

This has been such a great podcast, great content and well produced with information that is helpful for both allergists and patients. As an allergist, I like the recent review podcast on tepolizumab and CRSwNP, looking forward to future episodes.

#159 - Food Allergy Anxiety in Teens: Risk-Taking, Social Pressure, and How to Help
Q: What is ACT and how does it apply to teens with food allergies?
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy helps teens acknowledge anxiety without letting it stop them from engaging in valued activities, using risk assessment and flexible thinking to stay safe while participating in social life.
#159 - Food Allergy Anxiety in Teens: Risk-Taking, Social Pressure, and How to Help
Q: How does parental anxiety affect teens with food allergies?
Parental anxiety can create a tense environment and lead to lecturing or over-control, which may push teens away; addressing parental emotions and using skill-building helps create trust and safer independence.
#159 - Food Allergy Anxiety in Teens: Risk-Taking, Social Pressure, and How to Help
Q: Why are teens a particularly important group when discussing food allergies?
Teens are developing independence, which brings greater risk-taking around managing allergies, and they often face social pressures that can impact how they handle labeling, epinephrine, and talking about their allergies.
#156 - Is Your Asthma Worse Than It Should Be? Signs of Uncontrolled Asthma
Q: Dr. Mora, what does good asthma control mean beyond not needing a rescue inhaler frequently?
Good control means adequate oxygen delivery to the lungs and body, minimal symptoms, and avoiding disruptions to daily life; it also involves evaluating inflammation and considering whether current meds sufficiently reduce swelling in the airways.
#154 - What Providers Need to Know About Uncontrolled Asthma
Q: Dr. Zachary, can you tell us what are the patients that doctors should be looking out for who are most likely to have uncontrolled asthma?
The patients most likely to have uncontrolled asthma include Afro-American and Puerto Rican-American populations, with Black American females and certain pediatric groups at greater risk; clinicians should use probing questions to confirm control and not miss symptoms, especially in populations with historically higher risk.
