  • Fills much needed gaps

Despite the proliferation of energy podcasts, there is a need to go deep in certain countries, especially in the global south and absolutely for a country as important to the energy transition as India. Western audiences might need to stick India-specific phrases and context. I’d strongly recommend that energy aficionados stick with it. The hosts are pros in this space.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

India’s Energy Leadership for Global Net Zero | ft. Jayant Sinha
Q: Can you explain the concept of a green bank and how blended finance could practically help a household install solar panels or a city switch to e-buses?
He walks through a concrete example of a rural household using net metering to create income and reduce monthly costs, while subsidizing capital costs through lower-interest financing to make solar affordable. He also cites e-buses with subsidized rates to show how blended finance can enable rapid transition at scale.
India’s Energy Leadership for Global Net Zero | ft. Jayant Sinha
Q: How do you see the role of capital in enabling India's energy transition, including mitigation, adaptation, and just transition?
Capital is the decisive factor. He outlines the need to mobilize $150-200 billion annually more than current levels, with a heavy reliance on private sector funding. He advocates for blended finance and a fit-for-purpose green financing institution to lower the cost of capital and enable large-scale deployment.
India’s Energy Leadership for Global Net Zero | ft. Jayant Sinha
Q: What are your thoughts on the overall plan for India's net-zero efforts and whether the steps being taken are in the right direction?
The plan is a work in progress and needs to scale capital and technology dramatically; the path to net zero requires a combination of aggressive deployment of renewables, grid upgrades, and long-term capital solutions. He emphasizes that while steps have begun, the trajectory must accelerate to match global peers, especially in terms of investment intensity.
Heat Series (part 2): Building Livable Cities for a Warming India| ft. Indu K Murthy
Q: How can cities move from planning to action in heat resilience?
By embedding heat considerations into land use and infrastructure decisions, aligning energy and water planning, and leveraging hyperlocal data to drive accountable, funded interventions.
Heat Series (part 2): Building Livable Cities for a Warming India| ft. Indu K Murthy
Q: What are the main barriers to implementing heat-adaptive building codes and urban designs?
High upfront costs, short-term budgeting horizons, local data gaps, and the tendency to treat heat as seasonal rather than a persistent urban stressor, which slows scaling of solutions.
