  • Engaging and Well Produced

I just found this podcast and was surprised that it just started in recent weeks but when I listened to it, it didn’t sound like their first rodeo. The hosts are well versed with thoughtful questions in a conversational manner…not stiff but also not stepping on each other as can happen in these kinds of shows. The production value makes it very listenable as well. Coming from a broadcast journalism background, that means something to me.

Finally got to listen to the Madeline Martin episode. Loved hearing about all of her research. As a HF reader, I appreciate the extensive details that make the book that much more real as I’m reading. Also saw that Julia and Madeline got together in person in London recently. Love the HF writer community camaraderie! Looking forward to episode 2!

The writing method that finally worked

The writing method that finally worked
Q: How does your background at NASA influence your writing process today?
He explains how the control-room dynamics and rapid information processing trained him to skim and pull essential details quickly, which translates into a pantsing approach where the story unfolds with momentum rather than rigid planning.
The writing method that finally worked
Q: What was it like before you found this new method, and where did the shift come from?
He describes years of frustration with the traditional method due to ADHD, thinking he was the problem, and then discovering that embracing a more flexible, pantsing approach could align with his brain's natural tendencies.
Marketing your books as an introvert – what actually works
Q: And why did it appeal to you to pursue self-publishing over traditional publishing?
Self-publishing appealed because it offered control over the process and the ability to collaborate with editors and designers who understood her work, which aligned with her introverted approach.
Marketing your books as an introvert – what actually works
Q: How long did it take to get over those hurdles?
It took a while, but with baby steps and practice, it became easier with each podcast and speaking engagement.
