Brilliant. Proven particularly suitable for long stretches of driving when you want to stay engaged and learn a new topic.
It’s remarkable how you fall upon a gem; no thought for whom to look for , only an advanced interest in all historical ww2. What a brilliant burst of histoire. Well done
Having just engaged with this, I am hooked. Thoughtful, light but comprehensive reviews from two contrasting and well informed presenters. Find myself already revisiting recommended authors. Thank you…more please.
I’ve recently discovered this podcast. What have I been missing? It is simply brilliant it’s great fun with great chemistry between the two presenters and they tackle a range of really interesting history books fiction and non-fiction. It really is a must listen to podcast
I was delighted to discover the podcast. Coincidentally, I was busy reading Victory 45 while this wonderful book was reviewed, which enhanced both my reading and listening experiences. As history non fiction is my favourite genre, this is the perfect podcast for me. THANK YOU.

A sharp-history show that spotlights both new releases and classic histories through book reviews, roundtable discussions, and author interviews. Episodes mix rigorous historical analysis with accessible storytelling, often weighing historiography, sources, and narrative craft across topics like World War II, the Cold War, revolutions, and empire. Regular conversations explore how authors frame history, the ethics of memoir and narrative history, and how contemporary perspectives shape readings of the past. Noteworthy is the duo-driven dynamic, and frequent cross-pollination between scholarly rigor and broad-reader appeal, making it useful for listeners who want thoughtful recommendations and context for history books.
