  • Like minded Aviators

A great podcast coving most all of the public safety side of helicopter aviation. Guys with civilian, law enforcement, and military backgrounds that are still active in the industry. Good conversations that should make you think about how you are operating.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Special Episode - Tim Lynn on Airspace Changes: Insights from a Veteran Pilot
Q: What is the core issue with the airspace changes and who is affected most?
The changes disrupt day-to-day operations for emergency responders and law enforcement helicopter missions, increase response times, and create a blame-shifting dynamic where pilots and controllers must navigate new, less predictable rules. The emphasis is on getting pilots and controllers to collaborate and push back against blanket policies that ignore practical, mission-critical needs.
Episode 339 The Simple Leadership Principle That Builds Trust and Loyalty Part 2
Q: How do Ed Delmore and Scott Hughes approach training and staying prepared for high-stress events?
Training must be practical and high-quality, with realistic scenarios, hands-on practice, and ongoing skills maintenance rather than passive webinars, funded and supported by leadership.
Episode 339 The Simple Leadership Principle That Builds Trust and Loyalty Part 2
Q: What is Scott Hughes's philosophy on retention and recruitment at Hamilton Township PD?
Invest in innovative on-duty opportunities, robust training, mental health resources, and a culture that treats officers like adults, which helps attract and retain good people even in a mid-range pay scale.
Episode 336 - Yvette Tuning: One Officer’s Journey from Cancer to Advocacy and Resilience Part 1
Q: When did you first realize something was seriously wrong with your health, and how did you react to the initial news?
I was in denial at first, then surrounded myself with positive people, pursued a rapid second opinion, and demanded urgent treatment while holding onto a strong belief in my ability to beat the cancer.
Episode 335 Blades of Valor Tour 2026: Inside Miami-Dade Fire Air Rescue Part 2
Q: What does recurring pilot training look like for the aircraft?
Pilot recurrent training includes initial manufacturer-led training to obtain a type rating, followed by annual training that spans two days of ground school and three days in a simulator focusing on emergencies and instrument work; in-house currency maintenance is supported by digital tools and practice MVGs.
