  • So soft. Don’t waste your time.

No need to explain further. Extremely boring and zero fun at parties.

  • Great content, awesome concept and fantastic host

I like the show concept. Great guest speakers. The recent episode with the ER doctor talking about the Mission Critical Team Institute was incredible. The audio quality needs a bit of work. It seems slightly off compared to other top podcasts, but this is something that can be fixed. The voices sometimes sound weaker and less full, if that makes sense. That said, the host is so committed, supportive and passionate that after the first ten minutes I forget the audio and I focus on the excellent c... more

  • Giving into the woke mob

First of all the incident with Breonna Taylor was not performed as a “dynamic entry”. It was not the SWAT Team either, it was a group of NARC detectives. For once get all of your facts straight. Go back and look at the case and the officer’s testimony. They announced, waited, breached, waited at the door confronted the suspect at the end of the hall from outside the doorway threshold and the officer was shot. The officers then shot an extremely high number of rounds into the hallway killing Breo... more

  • Great source for after action reports

I was sent this podcast by my captain and I really appreciate the amount of detail that John goes into when he covers High profile incidents and critiques the highs and lows of these jobs with the operators who worked the job. The ability to self reflect and pass on vital lessons learned is why I continue to listen to this. It is relevant to all swat and emergency service members to gain valuable knowledge to help further there skill sets or see a different perspective on accomplishing the same ... more

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

K9/SWAT Integration with LASD-SEB
Q: What is the most critical factor in maintaining seamless collaboration between K9 and SWAT teams during operations?
Mutual trust and a shared language about tactics and priorities; continuous joint training, early involvement of command staff, and a culture that treats the K9 as a tactical teammate rather than a separate unit are essential for fluid coordination.
K9/SWAT Integration with LASD-SEB
Q: How long does the six-month integration and training process typically take before a K9 deputy is deployed on calls?
The six-month period includes an intensive SWAT school, M4 and MP5 training, followed by six weekly phases with markers; upon completion and certification, the deputy deploys in a Patrol Assist role that gradually scales to full SWAT duty with the K9 asset.
K9/SWAT Integration with LASD-SEB
Q: When someone first asks about building a SWAT-K9 program, what is the foundational requirement for the selection of both the dog and the handler?
The foundation is selecting not just for dogs with a background in detection or obedience, but for officers who are good problem-solvers, mentally sharp, and ready to operate as tactical deputies; the handler and the dog must meet the same high standards and be able to move and function as a unified team.
Improving Tactical Performance with Science
Q: What would you do organizationally to restore robustness?
Encourage tough decision-making to prioritize the well-being and manageable workloads of tactical teams, rather than merely meeting performance metrics.
Improving Tactical Performance with Science
Q: What advice do you give for improving sleep?
Factor in rest during wake time to enable good sleep, as inadequate daytime relaxations hamper evening rest.
