  • Really well balanced show

The GunsOnPegs podcast covers shooting issues and gives airtime to general rural interest topics in a really joyful way. Bringing in guests that absolutely know their onions but might otherwise not be widely heard is a speciality. George, Chris and team also champion the countryside and its way of life in an increasingly urban world. A top-quality listen!

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

The Marriage & Career Councelling Episode
Q: Between a side by side and an over and under, which would be more appropriate for the reader's circumstances?
The guests and hosts largely agree that for walked-up Woodcock a light side by side is ideal due to light weight and ease of use, while for driven pheasant or partridge an OU can be better for height and longer days, sometimes supporting two different guns or a versatile setup.
The Holland & Holland Episode
Q: Can you explain the balance between tradition and innovation?
We frame it as 'innovative heritage'—preserving handcraftsmanship and legacy while pursuing modern materials, anti-must, and collaboration (e.g., Overfinch) to advance the brand for today's market.
The Holland & Holland Episode
Q: What makes the Holland & Holland apprenticeship program a priority?
The aim is to cultivate the next generation of skilled gun makers, tie in with local colleges for accredited qualifications, and sustain the bespoke manufacturing ethos through formal training and mentorship.
The Holland & Holland Episode
Q: You've been at the helm of Holland & Holland for about 18 months now. How's the transition been?
It's been a period of embracing the brand's legacy while integrating a stronger focus on craftsmanship, apprenticeships, and collaboration with Beretta to support future growth, without compromising the heritage and character of the guns.
The "Monster" Pheasant Episode
Q: Why is it important to discuss accessibility and mobility on shoots?
Because opening access through adaptive gear and thoughtful planning allows more people to participate, expanding the community, supporting inclusivity, and highlighting the broader social value of field sports.
