  • For foodies too

Samage… Not a chef, but a decent home cook who believes in putting the best ingredients on a plate. It’s an inspiring listen and entertainingly confirms to me, that I was deluded to even think that starting my own restaurant would have been a great idea. It would have been a disaster, even if you had given me free blinq … I’ll stick with the Bon homie … keep up the superb work. Another review …Away

  • Fascinating, Funny & Insightful

Fred and Ben do such a great job interviewing the guests with such professionalism and humour. Fred is brilliant at being quick and shrewd, yet informative with his style of questioning. This has been my favourite podcast for over a year now and it is consistent in its episodes and formatting. Thanks gents.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Part 1 - Raymond Blanc - From Getting Brutally Exiled From France To Winning 2 Michelin Stars At Le Manoir aux Quat’Saisons
Q: Can you talk us through the day you got your first star?
Blanc describes the moment as uneventful for the first star, but the second star marked a significant realization of what Michelin recognition meant, especially given the cramped kitchen and modest equipment.
Tony Allan - Losing £1.6 Million To Marco P-W In Court, Crazy Weekends With Vinnie Jones & Making Millions As A Fish Supplier To The Stars!
Q: How did you become great mates with Vinnie Jones and end up spending time at the races together?
We met in Barbados in 1999 and clicked; after that, we joined a group of friends for holidays and big race days, where a mix of camaraderie and high-stakes betting led to a memorable bond.
Ivan Orkin - The American Who Became Japan’s Ramen King
Q: What inspired the tomato topping on your shio ramen, and how did the idea come about?
A personal moment of finding jammy tomatoes at a vegetable shop, combined with the need for a unique umami burst after insisting on having an oven in the Tokyo shop; the result became a signature topping and widely loved by customers.
Ivan Orkin - The American Who Became Japan’s Ramen King
Q: What was the catalyst moment that made your ramen shop explode onto the map?
A ramen reviewer's visit and praise, followed by a very public New Year's TV appearance in Japan that brought in a massive rush of customers and national attention.
Adejoké Bakare - From Selling Fish & Chips Off A Cart Outside Uni To Becoming The UK's First Black Female Michelin Starred Chef!
Q: Did you ever think you would win a Michelin star so soon after opening Brixton, given your background and path?
No; the journey was about proving the concept and staying true to the regional African flavors, regardless of initial doubts from others. The success came as a validation of a long, committed effort rather than a planned outcome.
