The questions and the openness that Aruna and Joanne approach these issues are inspiring. Most of us in this work do not allow ourselves enough time to sit and reflect. I am so grateful that these episodes gives us the space to accept the questions and reflect on them. You know you’re in the right space when your heart beats faster and you start taking notes to bring to your team for discussions. Can’t wait for the next episode!
It’s like catching up with old feminist friends for deep and meaningful conversations about the most interesting & vulnerable topics. An opportunity that is so deeply missed during this long long pandemic. Thank you Aruna and Joanne!
In listening to Gender at Work’s episode on intergenerational differences in how gender is viewed, this evening, two insights struck me: the notion of gender as a cause for celebration (i.e. the Gen Z emphasis on fluidity in gender expression, and gender as expression); and their insistence on wanting to see gender in relationship to other things: gender environment, gender diversity, etc. Examples of the kinds of useful analytical insights that this podcast provides!
Love hearing from people who have worked on the front lines of these movements. Always lots of wisdom in these episodes!
I really enjoyed listening to their Toxic Masculinity episode. It really went into detail about the term and how it impacts today’s society. I never thought that Toxic Masculinity could be different in different areas or communities but this episode really explained it clearly.
