The conversation that was initiated by director/producer, Mike was really good. Both of you had some excellent points. I think Mike speaking to the unhealthy focus on church numbers was spot on. It’s so much more about if people are getting healthy and growing as disciples and being taught how to disciple others.
And Esau’s point about the comparison between the influencer style pastors, and the everyday church pastor that’s shepherding between 75 and a 125 people. The comparisons are just unfa... more
Congrats Producer Mike. Esau, your insights today were very meaningful to me. Thank you.
Love this show and particularly when you bring theological nuance to modern events. I’d love to hear more about nonviolence in our moment. I wondered how you might process Bonhoeffer who is often portrayed as a hero in his attempt to assassinate Hitler. I think he was wrong in this. But I’d love more discussion on Just War, political violence, and the way Scripture interacts. Because it is a thorny issue.
I enjoy listening go Esau and the variety of guest he brings on the show each week. Esau is funny, smart and easy to listen to. He and his guest have honest and important conversation and I appreciate hearing from voices. Esau is relevant to the day in terms of culture and hot topics without getting too deep in the weeds. As an older white woman in the south, it’s imperative that I get insight from younger generation. Esau and his guest keep me engaged in what’s going on and always with a Biblic... more
This is an important podcast for white evangelicals. It’s good to hear the perspective of the black church. It may challenge some of your preconceptions. That’s good! I’ve learned so much by listening to this podcast. Esau is so talented and a great communicator. I also enjoy Mike and Malcolm.
