  • Content solid, but…

Kate offers her expertise on the show that most of us exploring divorce haven’t considered. This is helpful. She also brings in guests to expound upon niche topics. I find her content helpful, but her language and use of expletives and political persuasions lower her credibility as it reflects poorly on her level of professionalism. It’s unnecessary. She is educated and more capable of using longer than four letter words. Keep it professional please.

  • Comforting

Am listening to her recent recordings and she’s now on my saved show list. Comforting and encouraging and if I could have someone like this coaching me through it all, I’d happily pay for it.

  • Wow…I feel seen!

Episode 333 was powerful. As someone who has lived through a coercively controlling relationship, I know how confusing the gaslighting and silent treatment feel when you are inside it. Kate names the patterns for what they are and reminds us we are not alone. If there is a playbook for them, there is a playbook for you, too.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Episode 370: The Book Every Protective Parent Needs: Helping Children Heal from Coercive Control with Dr. Christine Cocchiola
Q: How does the Protective Parenting Program help parents work with children who are returning from abusive environments?
The program teaches attunement, co-regulation, and somatic strategies to name feelings, build trust, and create safe, predictable routines that support attachment and reduce dysregulation.
Episode 370: The Book Every Protective Parent Needs: Helping Children Heal from Coercive Control with Dr. Christine Cocchiola
Q: What makes coercive control different from other forms of abuse, and why is it important for listeners to understand this distinction?
Coercive control is about ongoing psychological manipulation and systemic control rather than just physical violence; recognizing the full spectrum helps protect victims and tailor interventions, including attachment-based and somatic healing approaches.
[Encore Episode] Healing from Relationship Betrayal with Michelle Mays
Q: Should I stay or should I go when betrayal is discovered?
The decision is deeply personal and depends on whether both partners are fully committed to repair, disclosure has been complete, and safety and boundaries can be rebuilt; the therapist emphasizes the importance of accurate information, support, and deciding what you will and will not tolerate.
Episode 367: Rituals for Divorce Grief with Barri Leiner Grant
Q: Will you talk about what you do, how you help women process grief, and what it does for them?
Barri describes grief work as a practice that includes grief-tending, writing, moving the body, and community support to help women name, process, and move through non-death losses tied to divorce.
Episode 365: Children as Co-Victims of Coercive Control with Dr. Emma Katz
Q: Why is family court and systemic therapy often risky in these cases, and what should victims know when these processes occur?
Katz and Kate critique systemic family therapy in coercive-control contexts, noting that it can pressure victims to appear friendly toward the abuser and fail to address ongoing harm to the child and mother, suggesting strategies to anticipate the dynamics and protect the child's safety and the mother's autonomy.
