  • This is important visibility!

I love the peak into what life is like from the experience of having a disability because it’s important perspective most people don’t experience and we take our able-ness for granted. It’s important to remember to include everyone when you vote, plan events, etc and when we’re not educated enough on these things, life is harder for people with disabilities.

  • Keep them coming!

Just checked you out! You’re inspiring people like us, with various disabilities, to work with what we have and to keep moving! It might look different from the “norm” but that shouldn’t limit us from living a full life.

Thank you Courtney for joining me on this
Q: Have you ever encountered reactions from others, like children, that stand out?
Kids can ask the darndest questions; a mall incident where a teen grabbed a child away from me highlighted misunderstandings and curiosity about disability.

Q: What happened with the driving adaptations in your history?
The pedals and hand controls are bolted into the car and cannot be removed; they are integral to the vehicle, affecting how driving is managed day-to-day.

Q: How is it different to drive as a disabled person?
I use hand controls and a fixed set of modifications in the car; my husband can also drive using the regular pedals, which influences how we plan trips and share driving responsibilities.

Q: What options or differences do you have in your relationship compared to a non-disabled person?
I have support from my husband who can help with transferring, getting in and out of the car, and guiding me on ice, which affects how we share a car and manage daily tasks.

Q: Being a disabled person, how do you live life?
Some days are frustrating and some days are really okay, and I have to be careful outside while indoors I manage fairly well; the conversation also covers daily routines and how mobility aids integrate into life.
