  • Centrist BS

Garbage takes by people so good at being political insiders they had to start a podcast to “prove” it. Instead, they just prove what’s wrong with Democrats. All they do is sit on their self-made pedestal and complain ab people who try to fight back. Any politician who listens to these clowns will lose their election. It’s pitiful what the party of FDR has become. In part due to people like Crooked Media. Too chicken to do anything real. All they do now is debate and ask “what would John Locke d... more

  • Interview from 5/16 episode

I think there should be more interviews with people who were on the inside. People who worked in with some of these pernicious tech companies, and left. Probably difficult to find, but important to hear from them

  • Generally love the show, the religion episode(s) not so much

I started this review with another religious episode and didn’t post. There have actually been 3 recently seemingly centered on religion. It seems

Inconsistent with the show description. Anyway, It is applicable to multiple current episodes.

This was a tough listen-it’s like someone trying to sell me some sort of icky-ness wrapped up in an advanced vocabulary. It was exactly right that we may want to “believe” because the human condition is hard in many ways but that is different from reality.... more

  • Catholicism is still misogynistic

Raised Catholic, I appreciate Pope Leo and the discussion. However, the continued resistance of the media to call out Catholicism as inherently misogynistic is a huge miss.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

This Candidacy Is a Test Case for AI Regulation
Q: What would slowing down AI regulation look like in legislation you'd want to pass in the next Congress?
It would involve safety standards for frontier labs, mandatory data sharing with the government and third-party audits, and international collaboration while pursuing federal-level policies to avoid a patchwork of state-by-state protections.
This Candidacy Is a Test Case for AI Regulation
Q: You have a lot of proposals around AI, including the AI dividend. Could you walk us through what that is and how it would work?
The AI dividend would be funded by three sources—depreciation on AI investments, a token tax on AI usage, and government warrants on frontier companies that pay off if AI replaces significant human labor, creating funds for retraining or income guarantees.
This Candidacy Is a Test Case for AI Regulation
Q: So thinking back on the pitch from Palantir back then, what do you make of that pitch now?
I think the mission was aspirational for some, but not universally believed; the reality was a mix of optimism and guardrails, with some projects aligning with public-interest goals and others showing how leadership and policy choices shape outcomes.
How Screens Have Warped Morality
Q: What concrete steps can individuals take to resist cynicism and engage more responsibly online?
Suggestions include digital Sabbaths, limiting screen time, treating people as humans rather than characters, questioning motivations, and building media literacy to discern signals from noise; small, consistent actions matter at scale.
How Screens Have Warped Morality
Q: How do two-way screens change our sense of reality, and why is this change important for democracy?
The guest explains that interactive screens transform how we relate, blur line between living and performing, and create new challenges for civic engagement; entertainment can be good for democracy, but passive consumption undermines active participation.
