  • I’m not a number

Description of life under AI sounds like The Prisoner. Great discussion in today’s session with Max.

  • Favorite podcast

Offline is my favorite Crooked podcast. The episode with James Talarico is a perfect example of why: thoughtful, respectful, in-depth, and intelligent. The discussion of the intersection of religion and politics (for all the right reasons) reflects something I’ve been working on in my own life. I will most likely listen again for what I skimmed over the first time.

  • Just insider politics

Jon’s a smart guy, but he can’t separate from the toxic lameness of the Democrats. Lauding Obama as major political achievement is fundamentally out of touch. More digital topics, less doomed political strategy please!

There are occasional moments of missed connection, where the reality that Jon’s a millionaire creep in. In his most recent episode with Chris Hayes, for example, Jon & Chris make two important points (among many— it’s a great episode ... more

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

What Comes After Trump?
Q: Do you think that the pro-democracy side needs an equally exciting mission for people, especially young people, to get people participating, excited, paying attention?
Packer believes liberal democracy needs to appeal to higher aspirations beyond just material well-being, focusing on common decency and recognition of humanity.
What Comes After Trump?
Q: And what is the value in trying to get people to feel like we're living in an authoritarian state as a way to alarm them into action?
Packer suggests that many Americans are unaware of the authoritarian state because it hasn't directly impacted their daily lives, making it hard to galvanize action.
What Comes After Trump?
Q: For people who haven't read it, why do you think that?
Packer explains that we are living in a 21st-century authoritarian state, which erodes the checks on the leader's power despite maintaining a veneer of democracy.
The Movement to Protect Kids from Big Tech
Q: What is the primary goal and what's the pitch to people who might be interested in joining MAMA?
MAMA's primary goal is to fight back against media addiction by educating parents, getting phones out of schools, and advocating for regulations ensuring technology is safe for children.
