Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

DMP #28 - Dr Lawrence Blair - Animism & Spirituality
Q: How do you see the relationship between experiential and orthodox religion?
Experiential religion is alive and connected, while orthodox religion has become a habit that lacks the depth and relevance it once had.
DMP #28 - Dr Lawrence Blair - Animism & Spirituality
Q: What do you feel is the benefit for these cultures to stay connected to these rhythms that we’ve lost in the West?
It connects them deeply to nature, resulting in a holistic and fulfilling life, whereas in the West, we start to see ourselves beyond nature, losing that essential connection.
DMP #28 - Dr Lawrence Blair - Animism & Spirituality
Q: From all of the cultures you met, what conclusions do you have on how their view of religion and their view of life and culture really come together?
In the West, we became separated from our environment and paradise when we became intellectual, while tribal peoples, like the Balinese, still live in a world where religion and their everyday lives are intertwined.
DMP #30 - Dr Cindy Engel - Somatic Empathy
Q: What guidance do you have for anybody struggling with somatic empathy?
Notice when it happens and don't overinterpret it; develop confidence that you can cope with feelings that arise.
