  • Wish it was better

I feel like this used to be way better! Sometimes I find the episodes are trying to be so digestible that they’re either condescending or the hosts seem so uninformed that they sound idiotic (eg “is Australia going to war” episode). If you’re reporting on a mass global conflict involving human lives maybe take it a little more seriously?

  • The Daily American

I started liking TDA during Covid for their direct updates and then later I started listening to the podcast…. But the show has lost its way… Nowadays it’s more America news and American politics than anything to do with Australian…. I wish they went back to their roots and focused on Australian news for Australians…. Now I’m looking elsewhere…

  • Too simple to the point of being misleading

Have listened for years and respect the core mission of TDA but lately I’ve been reconsidering my support. There’s been a couple episodes where crucial context has been missed or there has been a obvious skew in reporting and it’s getting really frustrating.

  • Like BTS but with blind spots

I understand the need to make digestible sized news for audiences but I don’t think that means being clearly influenced by lobbyists. Disappointing for so called progressives. We see you

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Are we heading for World War III?
Q: Why is there no singular definition of a world war and how does that affect public perception?
Because historical definitions vary and scholars weigh different factors like power involvement, geographic spread, and international participation, public perception can be influenced by news cycles and online discourse, which is why people look to tools like Google Trends for signals.
Are we heading for World War III?
Q: What are the three characteristics that define a world war according to the expert?
The three characteristics are: (1) major powers must be directly involved, (2) the combat must span the globe, and (3) a broad spectrum of nations must participate, not just a few key states.
Will the Middle East conflict drive up prices?
Q: Did the RBA signal what kinds of scenarios might influence their next decision amid the conflict?
They discussed two scenarios: a supply shock pushing inflation higher, or a prolonged conflict that could dampen global activity and lower inflation later.
Will the Middle East conflict drive up prices?
Q: Can you explain why a conflict in the Middle East has the potential to hit Australian households?
The episode explains that oil disruption could raise transport and goods costs, which then feeds through to consumer prices and inflation, influencing interest rate decisions.
What does an intimacy coordinator actually do?
Q: What are your thoughts about consent on screen?
Consent is fundamental in storytelling and should be normalized as part of sex and relationships, providing critical education.
