  • Great Topics for Dads

It’s really cool to have a dedicated podcast for fathers raising sons. The topics are awesome. On any given episode the chapters are very on point. I like that it’s unscripted and not a monologue style podcast, and it’s more of an interview style. Genuine!

I think my only concern is that some episodes seem very low energy like the people being interviewed are not engaging. I’m listening to a recent episode where the host had to repeat his question to get opinions of the guests who sound like th... more

Talking Points

How Your Old Solutions Became Your Current Problems featuring Gary John Bishop
Q: What does it mean that old solutions become current problems, and how can someone start to shift out of that cycle?
It means the strategies that once fixed past pains now entrench you in new patterns; you start by recognizing that you are not defined by your problems and begin reimagining your being—choosing a new declaration of who you are and aligning actions with that identity.
Why Asking for More Sex Pushes Her Further Away featuring Caitlin V
Q: Do you have any statistics about how much sex couples actually have after a few years?
The guest notes that long-term relationships generally have less sexual intimacy, and while numbers vary by survey, there is a trend across generations toward reduced frequency, with ongoing relationships often seeing lower levels of sex compared to early stages.
How to Shut Work Off Before It Costs You Your Kids featuring Gary John Bishop
Q: How do you know you've truly detached your growth from the outcome and not just improving yourself to chase results?
Gary emphasizes moving from chasing outcomes to aligning with an intentional identity; detach from emotional magnification of outcomes and focus on the daily integrity of your commitments, using the concept of a conversational domain to reframe how you talk about and pursue growth.
Expectations Vs. Boundaries When Leading Your Family at Home
Q: What is the difference between expectations and boundaries, and how should they be communicated in a relationship?
Expectations are clearly stated requests or goals that you communicate with the other person and then release, since you cannot control whether they will act on them. Boundaries are what you own and enforce for yourself if the expectations aren't met, and they should be communicated calmly and cooperatively rather than as attacks. The goal is collaboration and continued conversation, not one-and-done mandates.
Most Men Retire Into Emptiness Instead of Purpose featuring Michael F. Kay
Q: What is the eulogy exercise and why is it important?
The eulogy exercise helps men articulate what they want family and friends to say about them, revealing core values and guiding daily actions to align with those values, especially as they transition out of careers.
