How much sleaziness is too much sleaziness? Is Elmore Leonard’s 52 PICK-UP as nasty as its John Frankenheimer adaptation? Does the movie deserve its somewhat forgotten status in the director’s filmography, or should we all push for a 52 PICK-UP re-ev... more
The second chapter of B2B - Bedroom to Box Office - brings us a gaggle of porn stars smack dab in the middle of a mean, nasty, supremely entertaining John Frankenheimer joint. Sadly, 52 PICK-UP was too sleazy for critics and not even the Elmore Leona... more
The real surprise when it comes to RABID is that Cronenberg meant it to be about the dangers of mishandling an epidemic. As much as we can all relate to that, it can be difficult to connect to that theme when it’s carried by a movie that plays like a... more
Our Bedroom to Box Office Summer Event begins with David Cronenberg’s sophomore effort, RABID - a horror ditty starring iconic adult movie star Marilyn Chambers. The concept of patient zero using an armpit-stinger to infect other people must have blo... more
I thought I rated this podcast already. If I didn't: A and J are great, they're the Johnny Carsons of film podcast reviews, who generally provide a humorous defense of bad films or a humorous Attack on good films, then follow this by spilling the beans on their true feelings. Highly recommended. They don't bring the podcast down by politics or other dimensions not very pertinent to the true love of film.
Can’t quite believe it’s taken me 7 years to write this, but these boys are my go to podcast for movies. They’ve accompanied so many journey’s, literal and metaphorical, in my life over the years. How they can balance such insight, humour and chaos I am simply in awe of. Julio
Alex and Julio are the best and this pod rocks. Insightful, funny and oh so entertaining. It really is evident that these guys are friends IRL and they are passionate about movies!
Listening to this podcast is like having a conversation/argument with your smartest, funniest, most passionate friend. It pisses you off and entertains you at the same time. It's the best.
I listened to 4 or 5 episodes and was having a good time listening, even if they were ragging on a movie I enjoy during the real talk portion. I think the premise is a really fun idea, and I like hearing the different opinions.
Then I listened to the Juno episode and wow was I disappointed to hear all the “man bad. women good”, “you can tell this was made by a ~female~”, “the men were emasculated”, “Juno is half responsible for Mark being into her” (she’s a child, he’s what, near 40? gross.), ... more

A witty, opinionated film podcast that consistently challenges crowd-pleasing narratives by arguing the opposite of prevailing critical consensus. The hosts blend sharp analysis with playful banter, moving from Rotten Tomatoes counterpoints to candid, “Real Talk” takes, often using humor, pop culture riffs, and guest conversations to unpack a movie from fresh angles. Episodes spotlight a wide range of genres and eras, with a notable emphasis on how context, performances, and storytelling shape audience perception. A standout trait is the clear chemistry between the hosts, paired with a willingness to embrace both serious critique and entertaining tangents, including wrestling references and behind-the-scenes anecdotes. This format tends to ... more
