  • April Ryan?

Jen and Norm, I am a loyal Contrarian but April Ryan's interview of Susan Rice was an F. She used outdated phrases like "3rd world country" and was corrected by Susan. She was "gushing" at the beginning with statements like "you sure know how to start an interview". She is not ready for prime time and beneath Contrarian's consistently excellent interviews.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

SCOTUS' Anti-Immigrant Rulings, Why Trump Derailed Affordable Housing, and Unbiased AI
Q: Can you explain how Aisha differs from other AI models in terms of privacy and data handling?
Esosa outlines that Aisha does not use user data to train models, encrypts conversations, and ensures engineers cannot access user data, marking a substantial privacy-first approach.
SCOTUS' Anti-Immigrant Rulings, Why Trump Derailed Affordable Housing, and Unbiased AI
Q: What do you say to the housing numbers and the Supreme Court decision today?
Esosa emphasizes that the ruling will mobilize Black communities to engage in state-level politics, vote, and organize beyond traditional voting to protect rights and resources.
How MAGA Weaponizes History and a Historic SCOTUS Win
Q: Are there parallels between the post-Reconstruction era and the current moment that we're finding ourselves in?
Kruse notes parallels in how myths of a glorious past and misremembered history have been used to justify political retrenchment, pointing to the lost cause narrative and how it enabled resistance to federal intervention in civil rights. He argues contemporary MAGA rhetoric mirrors such backlashes, but with modern media dynamics amplifying the reach and impact.
ICE's Secret, Inhumane Web of Charter Flights
Q: What can communities or airports do to respond or push back against ICE flights?
Public airports cannot deny landing access to charter flights operated for the federal government, but local governments can cancel contracts with companies that work with ICE; local officials can exert pressure by scrutinizing contractor relationships and lobbying for policy changes.
ICE's Secret, Inhumane Web of Charter Flights
Q: Tell us about the shackling and how it operates on these flights.
Detainees are shackled at the wrists and ankles with a waist chain, and this system has expanded across administrations; such restraints make evacuation, movement, and even basic needs like using the restroom extremely difficult, contributing to severe safety and medical concerns.
