‘Never speak ill of society. Society is perfectly capable of doing that for itself...’ A series of professionally produced readings of the Chronicles of Clovis. View the world of Edwardian society through the jaundiced eye of Clovis Sangrail, Saki's deliciously louche anti-hero.

In which charity begins at home, and ends in a tea shop.
In which Nicholas meets the Evil One, and his “aunt” becomes acquainted with the rainwater tank.
Bertie might rescue Dora from the elk, but who can rescue Bertie from his grandmother?
Utterly British sarcasm ! Love it….
The Saki stories are very funny and have been funny for long enough for them to have become classics. Here they are perfectly read with dry wit and real understanding, and come at a perfect price. Very highly recommended indeed.
Better than stephen Fry’s version, too.
Having introduced my son to the wondrous literary world of Saki (H. H. Munro) as a preschooler as bedtime stories, I may have inadvertently ruined his entire school career.
I mean here are stories expertly written with sarcasm, wit, wisdom and just a touch of the "weird", the perfect world for an imaginative young mind; then I sent him off to public school where the height of storytelling is pseudo moralism disguised as literature and are boring boring boring.
Poor kid never stood a chance!

Very talented folks here, meaning both the author of the stories and the man producing this podcast. Saki offers short, humorous vignettes of a long gone era, beautifully enhanced by Crowest’s clear, crisp diction and expressive, buttery voice. He neither overacts or monotones, breathing life into the selected work. As far as I am concerned, Richard Crowest sets the bar for high quality audio readings.
Richard's voice is so beautifully suited to reading these works. The pacing, diction and lifew he brings to the words is just magnificent. And what words! Saki has the gift of taking a description of someone or something that would be a few words in anyone elses hands, and stretch it to a word picture of exquisite detaila nd usually comedy.
I was astounded to find that Richard was not a pofessional actor of some reknown that I had missed. I htink hew deserves to be.

I adore this podcast! The writing of Saki in my ears read by the pitch perfect performance of Richard Corwest.....wonderful!
Richard Corwest's most excellent and thoroughly spot on readings of the greatest short story writer of all time's most delicious tales simply can't disappoint. Whether you are a life long Sakian like me or new to HH Munro's work you will be delighted. Smirks, Laughs and arched eyebrows abound for all and sundry. In the words of Depeche Mode, I just can't get enough, so More Please Mr. Crowest! :)
If you're a fan of dry humor and early literary styles, you'll love this podcast! I heartily enjoy every one of these releases. I've looked for other Saki podcasts, but Richard Crowest has spoiled it for me...he does such an excellent job of reading Saki with just the right amount of wry seriousness and with perfect cadence, so that none of the other Saki podcasts are in the same league! You'll be glad you downloaded this one...
Richard Crowest does a beautiful job bringing these often-wry, always-hilarious stories to life. I've been a subscriber for the last couple of years, and it's always a treat to get the newest installment.
A must for every Saki enthusiast, and a great introduction to Saki if you don't know his work.
Even on the technical side, the sound is crisp and clear, without any popping, hissing or other artefacts. Top notch production!
Nobody could to these fantastic stories more justice than Richard. This is a very high quality, well produced podcast and a fantastic way to keep the brilliant stories alive.
Highly recommended to anyone.
You cannot have a finer delivery of the witty prose of this more or less contemporary of Oscar Wild. The reading by Richard Crowest could not be better and the inflections of the characters are simply perfect. And it's FREE! Thank you iTunes.
Exactly how these stories should be read. I can't imagine a better reading of these delightful, clever, insightful stories. Got some time? Download them all and enjoy!

Wonderful stories from Saki, who was a brilliant writer with unparalleled wit, narrated beautifully by R. Crowest, who really brings the characters to hilarious life. Dry humor (humour) at its best! A terrific podcast overall, and very funny. Thanks to R. Crowest for hours of enjoyment and for introducing me to some wonderful stories.
