#145 - How To Speak With Confidence At Work & Tell Better Stories (Jonathan Pease)
Q: What are the five traits he sees as essential for a great presenter, and how do they interact?

#145 - How To Speak With Confidence At Work & Tell Better Stories (Jonathan Pease)
Q: What sparked your transition from advertising to the creative leadership work you do now?

#146 - The Contrarian Bet on Japan That Most Investors Are Missing (James Halse)
Q: How do you explain activist investing to someone unfamiliar with the concept?
Activist investing contrasts with passive investing: instead of waiting for a stock to rise, you take significant ownership and push for management changes to unlock value, such as capital allocation shifts, cost reductions, or governance improvements that enhance shareholder returns.
#146 - The Contrarian Bet on Japan That Most Investors Are Missing (James Halse)
Q: Why did you ultimately leave Platinum to start Senjin Capital, and what was your initial strategy?
I believed there was a once-in-a-generation opportunity in Japan due to governance reforms and shareholder activism trends. I pitched a dedicated activist fund, assembled a small team, and when funding and market conditions shifted, I pivoted to launching Senjin Capital to execute that vision.
#146 - The Contrarian Bet on Japan That Most Investors Are Missing (James Halse)
Q: What were your niches at Platinum Asset Management, and how did you approach the Japan opportunity?
I focused on global consumer and retail and later Japan, studying paint, coatings, and related sectors. The Japan angle involved deep-dive research into governance changes and activist potential, leading me to advocate a Japan-focused activist strategy.
