  • First stop for builders seeking updated building methods

Excellent practical building advice, lots of new product exposure and great high performance home tips. Matt does a good job of covering building methods across all the climate zones which couldn’t be more important. I had to take a star for frequently repeating his 08 crash story and increasing bible verses.

The Future of Home Building: AI, Digital Twins & Smarter Workflows
Q: What does a fully connected build process look like in 3-5 years?
A single end-to-end solution that unifies trades, interior designers, and homeowners with AI working behind the scenes to streamline decisions while maintaining a seamless workflow and a strong client experience.
The Future of Home Building: AI, Digital Twins & Smarter Workflows
Q: What capability have you not shipped yet because the AI wasn't reliable enough yet?
They're focusing on honest, staged capability—starting with automated takeoffs for categories like flooring and vertical surfaces with about 99% accuracy, while keeping human verification in the loop and planning to expand 20+ categories in the next year.
The Future of Home Building: AI, Digital Twins & Smarter Workflows
Q: Define that term API for us.
API stands for Application Programming Interface; it's a way for different software systems to plug into each other so digs.com can appear inside other tools like Procore without changing the core workflow.
Why Every Custom Builder Needs a Building Science Consultant
Q: What is the practical impact of climate and site on enclosure design?
Each climate zone and site imposes unique moisture transport and condensation risks; design must account for dew point and vapor dynamics to prevent interior condensation and long-term damage.
Why Every Custom Builder Needs a Building Science Consultant
Q: How is the cost of building science consulting typically structured?
Billing is sometimes a mix of time and percentage of construction cost; regardless, the investment is generally cheaper than fixing problems later, and can be paid directly by owners to RDH.
