  • NEEDED!

I had been looking for a podcast like this since the original Hello Sunshine podcasts (How It Is, and especially you, etc) went off the air. To be honest, I hadn’t found anything like them since. It’s the perfect podcast to throw on during the morning commute because every episode has such a positive aura, while being substantive and directed towards the things modern women face, but there’s also lighter material on other days. It’s the perfect mixture. Please keep this going!

Emily Oster on the Science of Starting a Family
Q: Is there anything that can improve egg quality?
Unfortunately, there is no known method to improve egg quality, as it largely depends on age and chromosomal integrity.
Emily Oster on the Science of Starting a Family
Q: What does the research say about the longevity of frozen eggs and their eventual viability?
The eventual viability of frozen eggs is uncertain, but we can expect 70 to 80 percent to fertilize, leading to about a 60 percent success rate in becoming embryos.
Emily Oster on the Science of Starting a Family
Q: Emily, how is infertility diagnosed?
Infertility is not simply diagnosed; it involves understanding when to seek help based on age and undergoing a series of tests for ovarian reserves and sperm quality.
Allegra Goodman Wrote the Feminist “Cast Away”
Q: What choices did you make to distinguish this Cast Away story as a woman's experience?
I wanted to emphasize Marguerite's sheltered background and show that, unlike male characters in similar stories, she faced unique dangers upon her return, highlighting her ongoing struggle as a woman in that society.
Allegra Goodman Wrote the Feminist “Cast Away”
Q: How did you originally come across Marguerite? What fascinated you about her life?
I came across her more than 20 years ago on a road trip when I was reading children's books about Canadian history. I found her story fascinating because it was briefly mentioned in relation to Jacques Cartier's expedition, and I wanted to know more about her life and survival.
