  • Love this show!

Simone does such a great job of asking questions that get down to real stuff not just superficial conversation. I find myself being drawn in even when I think I won’t be interested in the subject matter or the guest.

  • Excellent Topics, but the pep is gone

I certainly admire Simone Boyce, she

Is an excellent journalist. However, since losing Danielle in the show, there is no pep in the voices or pizzazz in the show. They would bounce back and forth with a vibrant conversation that lit up the show. The content is there, but the uplifting experience or atmosphere is gone. I will continue to listen, but I really miss the bright side of the morning.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Feminist Historian Philippa Gregory on Reclaiming the Women History Forgot
Q: How do you handle portraying women who were not “likable” by historical standards?
I believe that many historical women were strong and ambitious, and I aim to present their humanity and complexities rather than a one-dimensional moral judgment. The goal is to show how personal ambition, societal constraints, and the era's conventions shaped their choices, which can be just as compelling as any hero.
Feminist Historian Philippa Gregory on Reclaiming the Women History Forgot
Q: Can you explain your process for digging into private records and how you decide when fiction begins to take over from history?
There's a large amount of material that's digitized and published, but a lot remains in private archives. I read critically, always treating sources as potentially unreliable witnesses, and I'm prepared for the possibility that I'll go down a rabbit hole and follow where the evidence leads, sometimes using fiction to illuminate aspects the records can't fully convey.
She's Alive! How Maggie Gyllenhaal Gave the Bride of Frankenstein a New Life
Q: What was it like directing your own script?
Maggie explains that directing her own material allows a broad collaboration where other voices can influence the final product, and she highlights the ongoing learning process and the importance of giving space for others to express themselves.
The Women Who Changed Romance: Kennedy Ryan, Tia Williams and Beverly Jenkins
Q: What about advice that feels outdated in today's market?
Not one size fits all—authors should tailor their process, embracing craft and business knowledge while finding a workflow that works for them, including substantial upfront research and interviewing when needed.
The Women Who Changed Romance: Kennedy Ryan, Tia Williams and Beverly Jenkins
Q: What is one piece of advice that actually matters for emerging romance writers?
Finish the book first, then learn the craft and the business of writing; protect your work from dream stealers and stay true to your mission.
