The two hosts are thoughtful and reflective without being pompous or superficial. They succeeed in showing the listener, a different and unique perspective, never preaching, just probing and prodding. There are a few laughs but i mainly listen for the psychological insights and the calm collected approach to conversation.
Incredibly smart and funny. I love the banter between the two bros.
These guys are so clueless, it hurts. They act as if women were so familiar to them but they just don't have any idea about to behave, AND they feel they can give advice on them. Feminism? lol They aren't even close!
How old are these guys? Fourteen? Eighteen? So badly misinformed on so many things, and so proud of "The Brazen Head's View" for no good reason. Privileged, smug, and for absolutely NO reason.
Save yourself some time and brain cells. I just spent an hour looking for something in... more
I gave this podcast a 3 or 4 episode trial run and after their opinion(s) about the Chomsky/Harris exchange I was done. They start out by agreeing that Sam Harris is great and that Chomsky is a Marxist with only 2 precepts that have driven his long and distinguished career and that his main frame of reference is material from his friend and colleague Howard Zinn.
Not getting into much detail about the exchange, they mention that Harris makes reference to Chomsky negatively in print in his book,... more
If you're looking to listen to a podcast from two gentlemen with their heads scewed on right, look no further than The Brazen Heads.
The combination of 'hard' topics (Philosophy, Religion, and, to a lesser extent, Psychology) and the more casual banter, characteristic of two long-time friends (sport, films and, to a greater extent, rape jokes) really make for an enjoyable listen.
One might say, they're a fountain of knowledge!
Keep up the great work guys.
From one of your British fans.

Just started listening to these guys and I'm already hooked. This podcast is a good balance of current events, movies/books/art culture, and personality. Mark and Derek give their honest opinions about things that would be too "icky" for mainstream commentators to admit, and sometimes it's nice to hear these things said out loud. You don't have to agree with everything they say to appreciate their point of view.
Neat podcast with a hot and sexy voice that is a spark plug for the universe.
Super good
I'm so happy to have found this podcast. You guys do an awesome job of covering every topic and bringing a great level of intellect and depth. Keep doing what you do!
I enjoy this podcast and listen every week. They are funny and talk about stuff that is intellectually stimulating, things like: Infinite Jest, pop psychology, higher education, and artificial intelligence. If you are an educated male between the ages of 25 to 40, you will likely enjoy this podcast.
They repeatedly make assumptions that the vast majority of people in this world have access to the same privileges and rights as two upper-middle class Americans and that those who do not have these same advantages are at fault. Such as the episode in which they criticized a girl from Nepal who trekked several miles through the snow just so she could attend school. Instead of praising her determination, their response was well why doesn't just move to America where she would have access to a gr... more
Two morons who like to hear themselves talk about nothing... except it's not particularly funny.
A smile comes to my face each week at work when I see iTunes automatically downloading the latest episode. Intelligent, relevent dialogue that will make you laugh, think and want to extend the conversation further. And yes, these guys will need a lawyer one day for sure. Its great.
I love these kids. They are free thinkers and great inspirations for my podcast. Kudos guys. Keep podcasting.

Two longtime friends discuss philosophy, culture, and current events with a sharp, often irreverent take, pairing deep analysis with casual banter. Episodes frequently cover big topics like technology, media, politics, and literature, weaving in pop culture references and personal anecdotes to illuminate complex ideas. The show stands out for its candid, opinionated style, willingness to tackle controversial subjects, and a distinctive blend of intellect and humor aimed at curious, in-the-weeds conversations. For potential listeners or sponsors, the mix of cerebral discussion and approachable conversation can appeal to educated, media-savvy adults who enjoy thoughtful debate with a dry wit.
