  • Essential Listening

Bradcast and the Green News Report are factual, and packed with news others do not cover or contextualize. I never miss an episode. I highly recommend it to everyone who wants non corporate news especially election coverage. Bradcast helps me through difficult times with thoughtful analysis and snarky content! Thanks Brad and Desi for all the years of hard work and real talk, you’re the best!!

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

'BradCast' 8/10/2026 (Alarming voting system vulnerabilities persist, with guest Susan Greenhalgh, election security expert)
Q: Can you explain what CISA found about voting system networks being inadequately segmented and why that matters?
CISA found that networks hosting election systems were poorly segmented, allowing quick access from internet-connected components to the voting equipment, which indicates significant risk and the need for strong isolation and security controls.
'BradCast' 8/10/2026 (Alarming voting system vulnerabilities persist, with guest Susan Greenhalgh, election security expert)
Q: Your thoughts on Marilyn Marks' blockbuster finding using publicly available poll book data and AI to determine how people voted in Georgia?
The finding underscores how publicly accessible data and AI can reveal voting patterns, highlighting critical vulnerabilities and the inadequacy of current protections, which both parties have been slow to address.
'BradCast' 8/5/2026 (El-Sayed's Primary Win in MI Will Test Popularity of Progressivism; Guest: John Nichols of 'The Nation')
Q: How feasible is a unified Michigan Democratic Party 90 days out from the election, given the bitter primary and divergent wings?
John Nichols argues that unity is possible but contingent on sustained collaboration and public messaging that bridges the left and center, leveraging El-Sayed's energy and grassroots support while ensuring establishment-backed candidates stay engaged.
'BradCast' 7/27/2026 (Thom Hartmann on the Fourth Rise of U.S. Oligarchy and the 2026 Election That Could Begin to End It)
Q: Is it fair to say that every 80 years or so there's a shift back toward democracy after oligarchic rises?
Hartmann argues yes, describing a historical pattern where periods of concentrated wealth and power provoke democratic pushback, with reforms like the New Deal and earlier revolts restoring balance, though each cycle is costly and carries risk of conflict.
'BradCast' 7/31/2026 (Encore: Corporate Political Spending in 2026 Shatters All-Time Record; Guest: Rick Claypool of Public Citizen)
Q: Are these corporate dollars primarily helping Republicans or Democrats?
The spending has a broad impact and tends to favor candidates who align with industry-friendly policies, but the money is not strictly partisan; it aims to cushion the industry's interests regardless of party.
