  • A lay person’s thoughts

I’m not a Biblical scholar, just a disabled homebound Christian needing to be fed the truth. I get that from Matt but what kept me coming back was his wonderful lighthearted personality. In every episode he expresses how excited he is about what he’s presenting and the fun of it all. You can hear it in his uplifting voice.

I thank God for you every day. You,Tasha and “kiddos” are always in my prayers. XXXOOO

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

#173: Interview with Joel Muddamalle about The Unseen Battle
Q: Do you find that fear or ignorance about the unseen realm is common in evangelical circles, and how do you address that?
Fear and ignorance come from different directions: some fear the unseen realm, while others retreat into extreme, sensational teachings. The approach is to ground readers in scripture (especially Colossians 2:14-15 and Ephesians 6), acknowledge the reality of spiritual powers, and then point to the gospel and the Spirit's empowering presence as the means of victory.
#173: Interview with Joel Muddamalle about The Unseen Battle
Q: Tell us what you wanted to talk about in this book, The Unseen Battle, and why it has a pastoral tone.
The Unseen Battle aims to present a pastoral, teaching-friendly treatment of spiritual warfare by grounding it in biblical texts and historical theology, while making it accessible for everyday readers. It emphasizes humility before Christ, confidence in his victory, and practical ways pastors can equip their churches without over-spiritualizing or ignoring real-world issues.
#172: An Interview with Louis Markos on C. S. Lewis and J. R. R. Tolkien - Part 2 of 2
Q: Could you maybe summarize in a good answer why reading fiction, reading these stories that we've been talking about will actually make you a better reader of Holy Scripture?
Reading fiction trains you to read literature on multiple levels—symbol, metaphor, and typology—so you can discern how Old Testament types point to Christ and how stories can illuminate spiritual truths in Scripture.
#169: An Interview with Leslie Baynes — On C. S. Lewis and Scripture
Q: How would you characterize Lewis's view on biblical inerrancy and inspiration?
She describes Lewis as someone who rejected inerrancy in a strict sense, recognizing human authorship and errors, while affirming inspiration; thus he allowed sacred fiction alongside sacred fact within a complex, non-literal framework.
#169: An Interview with Leslie Baynes — On C. S. Lewis and Scripture
Q: What led you to write this book? Why this book on C. S. Lewis?
Baynes explains her lifelong engagement with Lewis, her discovery of gaps in his treatment of the Bible, and her aim to explore how Lewis both interprets and reimagines Scripture across his fiction and non-fiction.
