The perfect mix of smart commentary, film history, humor, heated debates, and fascinating film-nerd trivia! All three hosts are hardcore film buffs who work in different areas of film, theater, arts, writing, etc, and they’re good friends who have fun doing the show together. Yet their backgrounds, personalities, and tastes are very different, so they often disagree in such interesting ways! I learn a ton from every episode, feels like I’m enrolled in the most fun Film Studies class ever.
I’m in love with this podcast, despite not having seen most of these films. I love the history and detail they go into. And they make it very fun. Highly recommend
I’m a long time listener and fan. I learn something new from every episode. I appreciate the preparation and effort put into the show. I feel like I am listening to 3 friends of mine. As a self taught film nerd I recommend this podcast to everyone. I even listen to episodes more than once. Thanks Jess, John and Tom! I appreciate the your sense of humor as well.
I’ve bored everyone who won’t walk away about this podcast, it’s just wonderful for film fans who love learning about the history of film, as well as gaining great insight from three perceptive film buffs. They’re so packed with detail that I’ve re-listened multiple times, though it never gets boring. You won’t always agree with everything being said (and they often disagree between themselves), but that’s true for any art form worthy of discussion. This is my Desert Island Podcast.
