I appreciate The Alabaster Jar because it is so different from other Christian podcasts for women. Smart, educated women chat and interview other smart, educated women about amazing, often overlooked women in the Bible and early church. I was lucky enough to take a course on NT women from Dr. Lynn Cohick, and I love that I can continue to learn from her on this podcast. I always end my time here feeling informed, encouraged, and seen.
I met Dr Cohick at Kerygma this year and my eyes have been opened to the woman’s role in church leadership. I had no idea and honestly, looked down on women in leadership roles in the church. But God has been teaching me & “expanding my territory” in unfathomable ways. Thank you for your faithfulness & honesty in your journey. I love the guests on this podcast & the topics discussed. Thank you!
Thank you for showing another face of women in the Bible as carriers of the Kingdom. I love your history perspective too. Thank you. Julie from Australia
Where has this podcast been my whole life!? It is like a cool breeze on face. It is so exhausting to feel that wall of invisible distrust of the feminine…why is it the same in the church as in the rest of the population? Isn’t Jesus our example? There is so much to mourn…but wow do I thank God for you Dr. Cohick and Dr. Imes.
I met Lynn at Kyrigma 2 yrs ago. I have followed the podcast since. I love it. I have been able to use the knowledge gained to teach my class at church. I also have been encouraged by the understanding of what women really add to the body of Christ.

A thoughtful, scholarly interview series centered on women in biblical history, early Christian leadership, and the cultural-historical contexts of Scripture. Host conversations frequently pair biblical scholars with guests to unpack geography, literacy, and gender in ancient settings, often highlighting how place, lineage, and community shape interpretation. The show stands out for its focus on women's stories, leadership, and theological contributions, offering nuanced readings beyond traditional narratives and inviting listeners to reconsider familiar biblical texts through a feminist-theology lens. It can be especially engaging for listeners who enjoy rigorous biblical scholarship presented in accessible, discussion-driven formats and f... more
