  • Essential listening

TAC has quickly become my favourite podcast, and has proven a great intro for this relative late-comer to the industry.

Ruben does a great job of gently squeezing the wisdom from each of his guests, and champions traditional approaches without ignoring their challenges or trade-offs.

    Keep up the good work.

  • Mind-opening

I’m a retired architect and actually don’t think about building much these days. I stumbled upon the related YouTube channel and then started listening to this podcast.

It’s making me reevaluate traditional architecture which is a really interesting experience.

  • Lets return to beauty

Great podcast that focusses on why we have lost the ability to build beautiful classical buildings. Really interesting guests and asks the question, should we be demanding more.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

#59 - Michael Diamant, part III: Why Tradition Is Progressive
Q: How do you make sure that they actually grasp it well and that they then, if they are elected, can actually do something with it?
It's about educating them on what classical architecture is and providing examples of local projects that people dislike, showing them the public demand for change.
#59 - Michael Diamant, part III: Why Tradition Is Progressive
Q: What is happening in the world of architecture, but mostly in the architectural uprising at the moment?
A lot is happening and very little is happening; more projects are being built, and there's genuine organic growth in the English-speaking group.
#58 - Timothy Smith, Smith & Taylor Architects - The Revival of Classical Architecture Education in Britain
Q: Are there fewer students interested in classical architecture?
Timothy explains they have enough students for their studio, but are keen to attract more who are specifically interested in classical and traditional architecture.
#58 - Timothy Smith, Smith & Taylor Architects - The Revival of Classical Architecture Education in Britain
Q: How did you get fascinated by classical architecture?
Timothy discusses that his interest sparked while in postgraduate studies, where he often argued that classical architecture was still relevant and appropriate today.
#54 - Jon Jon Wesolowski, The Happy Urbanist: Making Happy Cities
Q: What would you advocate for if you had unlimited funds and authority over one city?
I would establish a network of transit that doesn't require a car, and create neighborhood plazas to encourage community interaction.
