I like the short format. It makes it easier to listen to at work in between tasks. I do feel like every episode was just a plug for PACE or APC with just a little bit of helpful information. I would like to see less info on PACE and APC and more info that is helpful for most admins without asking them to spend more. This could be a great resource for those who can’t get APC approved at their organization.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

How to Strengthen Strategic Partnerships
Q: How do you handle onboarding when the executive is new to having an EA and there may be no clear precedent?
Ask the executive about their preferences, pilot a shared system, and iterate over weeks and months to develop a rhythm that works for both, even if it takes several attempts to find it.
How to Strengthen Strategic Partnerships
Q: What would you recommend for establishing a strategic partnership when it's a new EA working with an executive who has had many EAs before?
Lead with empathy about the emotional context, acknowledge the history with prior EAs, build trust gradually, and avoid bulldozing changes—instead learn how the executive has worked before and propose small, collaborative improvements.
Why You Need a Personal Board of Directors
Q: How would you recommend an admin or EA begin to assemble that personal board of directors? Is there a good structure or system? How many people, what kind of people should they be?
Start with a flexible, evolving roster that includes a mentor, a challenger, a connector, a peer, and a visionary (and possibly a sponsor). Build relationships intentionally, with clear goals for each meeting, and be prepared to adapt the group over time as career goals change.
How to Lead an Admin Community
Q: How do you become a subject matter expert within your admin domain?
Specialize in a specific area, develop deep knowledge, and consistently share that expertise through regular sessions and showcased outcomes.
How to Lead an Admin Community
Q: What are core steps to getting a peer support group off the ground?
Be purposeful, commit time, and ensure you are available to mentor, while balancing your own workload and maintaining confidentiality.
