  • Informative, but America Centric

As far as I’m aware, this podcast is unique in its category. Unfortunately, despite probably having a global audience, it tends toward North American centrism, in both the news and advertisements they select. In particular, it isn’t always clear whether an advertiser only serves North American customers, and news items that have no relevance to a global audience are usually presented as if everyone in the audience lives in the US. It’s otherwise a good podcast.

  • AI Sub?

Wow. Today’s listening to today’s episode was brutal. I do not ever want AI reading the news to me. Erica’s broadcast is typically upbeat and personable. If this continues, I’ll find a new new source.

  • Sad about changes

I have been listening to this show for many years. So refreshing to find a news channel that was actually fair and gave a report on both sides of whatever argument. However in the last 2years there has been a notable shift to the left. I am an independent- which is why I liked this show because I just want to hear the facts not political opinions. But now I can hear/feel the negative tones and slants towards our current administration- not sure what happened in your content writing- but I would ... more

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Special Edition: Political Violence & Division- Can We Come Together?
Q: Why do so many people see the other side as a threat, and what can we do about it moving forward?
Most people do not view violence as acceptable, and correcting misperceptions about the other side can reduce hostility; engaging people with curiosity and civility, and recognizing the humanity of those with different views, helps bridge divides.
Special Edition: AI's Impact – Does Anyone Have a Plan?
Q: What do you think the average American is missing or getting wrong in the current discussion about AI?
People often focus on doom and existential risk; the important thing is to engage with AI, understand what it can do across sectors like education and healthcare, and use it to improve society instead of ignoring it.
Special Edition: AI's Impact – Does Anyone Have a Plan?
Q: So I'm curious when you went out to write this one for The Atlantic, what was your main goal or how were you thinking about it before you got started?
My main goal was to answer what the hell is going on, and to understand the three perspective groups—economists, CEOs, and policymakers—and how their views differ, while acknowledging there's no consensus.
Special Edition: Travel Smarter – Avoid Long Lines, Find Great Deals & Plan Ahead
Q: What are the spring break travel trends and tips for last-minute planning?
Demand is high with a focus on beach and nature getaways; consider flexible dates and destinations, and price-track main economy fares to maximize chances of lower costs; if prices rise, you can sometimes rebook or credit with the airline.
Special Edition: Travel Smarter – Avoid Long Lines, Find Great Deals & Plan Ahead
Q: So I actually want to start with what a lot of travelers are dealing with right now, long airport security lines. How bad is it and which airports are being hit the hardest?
Lines have been long across many airports, with some lines out the door and even closures due to staff shortages; the trend could worsen if staffing issues persist, potentially affecting smaller airports as resources get redistributed.
