Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Jaron Bell - Radio Single, "Guys that Make Her Cry" moving up the Charts
Q: What role did opening for bigger artists play in your development, and how do you approach opportunities now?
Opening for established acts provided exposure and credibility, and Bell emphasizes staying proactive, saying he rarely accepts a refused opportunity and focuses on choosing shows that align with his path and long-term goals while keeping his team aligned.
Gage Fontenot- Radio Tour & New Single - “Know Somebody”.
Q: What did you sing that night with teaching yourself the guitar, and how did you get your start in Texas?
I sang Know Somebody and another Brooks & Dunn song during a last-minute open mic. It was that performance that led to more bookings and ultimately got me connected with local promoters and venues, starting my path in Texas music.
Gage Fontenot- Radio Tour & New Single - “Know Somebody”.
Q: Tell me about the background on that song and how all of this came about.
The song began as a casual spark—the first one I ever wrote and with no grand meaning behind it. I was inspired after hearing Chris Young's I Know A Guy, which led to the realization that the line I know me, like I know somebody could carry the hook. This insight sparked the writing process and shaped Know Somebody into the track it is today.
Krislyn Arthurs - Debut Album Release - Honky Tonk PhD
Q: What inspired the title track Honky Tonk PhD and how did your college experience influence it?
The title track reflects her college-era experiences as a single mom who dropped out of college after working multiple jobs, using the concept of a 'Honky Tonk PhD' to symbolize learning through real-world life and honky tonk culture.
Krislyn Arthurs - Debut Album Release - Honky Tonk PhD
Q: What can you tell us about the album's track selection and how many songs were developed over time?
Most songs were developed over Krislyn's career, with only a couple co-written during the recording; some tracks are three years old, and she aimed to include the strongest material she could gather for the album.
