Reviews

4.8 out of 5 stars from 56 ratings
  • I wish he was a bit better informed

Two years ago I gave this podcast 5 stars, but honestly after being longer in tech, I see a bunch of problems. I think Brodie is a good host, fun to listen to and is doing well at guiding conversations. It has the feeling of caching a chat with someone on the floor. However due to that flow, the host is often spreading questionable opinions, misinformation or is giving people a stage, who do this. I sometimes wish he would reflect a bit more or try to get more background knowledge.

Chatting With An Early Slackware Developer | David Cantrell
Q: What year did you start in the Linux/open source space, and how did you get started?
The guest recalls starting in the mid-90s, learning through books due to limited internet access, building a Slackware setup from cast-off parts, and gradually getting involved with the Slackware project after university.
This Father & Son Team Made A Game | Sundae Buoy
Q: How did the two playable characters come to be?
They moved from a Renzi-centric approach to making the second character Kinsei switchable, which opened up new design space and allowed for richer level design.
This Upcoming Metroidvania Looks Incredible | Lantern Jump
Q: Why did you choose Godot as your engine, and did you use it in earlier jams?
Tommy chose Godot because he uses it and finds it open and lightweight; they used it for previous jams and continue to prefer it for 2D projects, citing good scene organization and open‑source advantages.
We Must Protect Your Software Freedom | Jurgen Gaeremyn
Q: Around 2011 you started getting involved in running an event. How did that begin and what was your early experience?
The early days were intimate and iterative: a small living room gathering with a few speakers and visitors, growing over subsequent years into a multi-floor, multi-topic event that connected diverse nerds and encouraged everyone to share, learn, and contribute to the open-source community.
