  • Amazing content

Probably my favorite podcast on the internet. They have a great mix of guests genre-wise, and I always learn so much every episode. John the host is awesome (I’ve stopped listening to podcasts in the past if the host’s conversation skills kind of sucked). One if the best music-related podcasts period, well done!

  • Thank you

Came across this podcast because of the Hayley Williams interview. I’ve been a fan of hers and followed for some time but your interview truly dug beep while staying true to her and her song writing in her solo track ❤️

    Great work to everyone

TN:176 Fred again..
Q: How has your process stayed the same, and what has changed recently?
The core feeling and openness to turning ideas into something you can hear in the room stay constant, but the approach now emphasizes more collaborative jamming and broader, more spontaneous creation with multiple people, while maintaining a strong sense of identity for the final bones of a track.
TN:175 Mumford & Sons and Aaron Dessner
Q: How did you approach the timing and pace of recording Prizefighter to keep it fresh?
We embraced the spontaneity of writing sessions, travel between studios, and letting each musician bring something unexpected. This led to a sense of freedom and a style where ideas could evolve quickly without overthinking.
TN:173 Emma-Jean Thackray
Q: Do you prefer a more naturalistic approach to recording and mixing, or do you like lots of meticulous processing?
I like to do a mixture; mostly it will be just about making sure the performance is right.
TN:173 Emma-Jean Thackray
Q: Do you have a favorite piece of kit, a favorite plug-in, a favorite inner thing that, say for this project, you couldn't have lived without it?
My secret weapon is that distortion pedal, which I bought from Japan.
TN:172 Artemas & Toby Daintree
Q: What advice do you have for getting over the self-doubt when it feels like you're being ignored or overlooked by the industry?
Don't wait around for the industry; just put your music out there consistently. If your music connects with people, the industry will take notice.
