  • Updated.

I had a different rating and review previously, but I’ve grown to love this show and Bogumil’s calm voice. Bogumil is truly an exceptional human being, so aligned and so focussed. I feel grateful to be able to have access to his learnings and life lessons. He is an inspiration to me.

  • I wish Bogumil had a more engaging voice

I like this guy’s books, but his voice is too boring and calm and non-stimulating to get through a podcast. Well, in previous sentence lies his advantage, he has truly spent a lot of time trying to wire himself differently than the crowd, by building patience, discipline, mindfulness and a long term thinking. But it’s all too boring to listen to, and while he may be excited on the inside, he does a poor job of brining that excitement to life, at least vocally. The podcasts do have great content ... more

Kai Wu: Intangible Assets: The Dark Matter of Finance — The Invisible Forces Driving Company Value Why the Balance Sheet Misses Most of What Makes a Business Worth Owning
Q: What does success look like for you in this field?
Professional success means intellectual freedom to pursue innovative ideas, independence, and the ability to affect clients positively through novel insights, even if that means challenging conventional wisdom.
Kai Wu: Intangible Assets: The Dark Matter of Finance — The Invisible Forces Driving Company Value Why the Balance Sheet Misses Most of What Makes a Business Worth Owning
Q: How do you see AI affecting investment research and the job market in finance?
AI will automate many routine tasks, but it will also elevate human judgment for higher-value work. The future of finance involves using AI to handle data-heavy, repetitive work while humans focus on interpretation, strategy, and relationship-building. The pace of change matters; if deployment is too fast, it could cause disruption, but a measured approach can enhance capabilities.
Kai Wu: Intangible Assets: The Dark Matter of Finance — The Invisible Forces Driving Company Value Why the Balance Sheet Misses Most of What Makes a Business Worth Owning
Q: Kai, what motivates your intangible value framework and how does it differ from traditional value investing?
It's about acknowledging that much of value resides in things not captured by the balance sheet—IP, brands, talent, and networks. The framework provides a language to integrate growth with value investing, enabling investors to see opportunities in intangible-rich businesses like NVIDIA, Coca-Cola, or Apple, and to avoid overreliance on price-to-book alone.
Unfiltered Coffee Q&A, April 2026: Finding Compounders, Building Conviction, and Navigating AI, Careers, and Wealth Across Generations
Q: How do you source ideas and narrow down to a few core investments for the long run?
Maintain a living wish-list of ideas, use a two-sided checklist (things you don't want vs. things you're looking for), and allow Mr. Market to provide better prices over time before committing; diversify across several ideas but concentrate on those with meaningful upside.
Unfiltered Coffee Q&A, April 2026: Finding Compounders, Building Conviction, and Navigating AI, Careers, and Wealth Across Generations
Q: Where is the next best compounding opportunity and how can long-term investors identify mispriced growth opportunities?
Focus on owning durable businesses with clear competitive advantages, a long runway for growth, and a price range that leaves room for upside as the business compounds over time; use checklists to avoid red flags and wait for favorable price opportunities rather than forcing buys.
