I found myself quadriplegic in a hospital bed staring at the ceiling for 7 months. This is one of a handful of podcasts that kept me sane. The chemistry between the hosts, the deep knowledge and how they make it accessible to an armchair linguist like me, I always learn something new. This one is a gem, long may it continue!
Over the past few years this podcast has gone from “must listen” to “only if I’ve run out of others”. The change became really apparent when they stopped being on community radio and became podcast only. As a result, they became more niche, too long, and I think victims of their own success. Here’s your honest review. The content is wonderful, but the reveling in your smugness and judgmental nature is off-putting. It amazes me that you have the self-awareness to recognize you have these issues but not the self-awareness to do anything about it. I’m a regular listener and provide a little support through Patreon, but of all the linguistic podcasts that I listen to, this is the most difficult one to get through.
