Hi guys, Love the podcast, really enjoy listening to both Mark and Nick’s opinions on golf both past and present! I’m a golf professional myself and played full time on the Australasian Tour for about 5 years until an accident cut my playing career short. I took inspiration from a young Nick O’Hern carrying his green carry bag around NSW Golf Club in a professional tournament. I was about 15 at the time and I still wish to this day that I had of asked you whether I could have caddied for you tha... more

  • Talk Ads to me

Ping, Footjoy, BMW, Host Plus, BetR, Callaway, Titlest. I get you need revenue but on top of the incessant ad reads slipping more into product placement into the conversation as content makes the show unlistenable. I want to like it but you guys show disdain for the listeners with excessive shilling.

  • Nick is great, Mark is hopeless

Unfortunately one of the hosts has no credibility, having been a failed touring pro. Nick though is great, and has credibility, although he always looks uncomfortable when Mark keeps touching him.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Guest Show: Australian Golfing Legend Graham Marsh
Q: When did you know you wanted to be a pro? What was the moment as a junior when you realized you were pretty good?
Marsh recalls a turning point at Gosnells Golf Club where he won a club championship, followed by the realization that a professional path would require moving beyond local clubs and seeking opportunities overseas to develop his game.
Friday Feedback: World Thank a PGA Pro Day, Putting, Pre-Shot Routines, and Mark Reveals a Fun 'Golf' Fact about Footy Star Matty Lloyd
Q: Could you comment on how specific golfers should be with their pre-shot routines?
Pre-shot routines should be tailored to the individual's tendencies; some players benefit from very fixed timings (e.g., 12 seconds for one host), while others vary; the key is consistency and a routine that helps maintain focus under pressure.
Friday Feedback: World Thank a PGA Pro Day, Putting, Pre-Shot Routines, and Mark Reveals a Fun 'Golf' Fact about Footy Star Matty Lloyd
Q: Tiger Woods has been quoted as saying that he thinks of hitting a high draw with his putts. What do you think about this contradiction or what seems like a contradiction?
They discuss that putting feel is subjective and players like Tiger may favor a high-draw feel to release the putter, while others like Aaron Rai prefer a lower finish; overall the consensus is that effective feel and repeatability, not a single rule, drives performance.
Monday Mini: What Age is it okay for Kids to have Golf Lessons? Nick outlines the '4 ways to learn to play golf'.
Q: At what point or what age do you think it might be appropriate to book him in for some lessons?
Start with a fun, light introduction to fundamentals like grip and stance, possibly one short lesson with a local pro, and then give the child space to enjoy the game for a few years before pursuing more formal instruction.
Friday Feedback: Monty, Slow Play, A Whack for Mark, Caddy Chat, and our first 'The Cliffs at Kangaroo Island' finalist announced!
Q: If you're golfing alone and you make a hole in one, does it count if you film it with GoPro or glasses?
The group suggests it would not count as an official hole-in-one if there is no competition, but filming could complicate believability; opinions diverge, with some arguing filming could count in non-tournament settings while others stay strict about tallying only tournament results.
