  • Jacks arrival - Kate 8 year fertility journey

    Kate was generous and brave

in sharing her story. Found the host irritating because she constantly cut her off and talked over her, particularly in her vulnerable moments. Lovely story but disappointing delivery by the host..

Anna: Twins Born Unresponsive, Extended CPR, Cooling Protocol Hypoxic-Ischaemic Encephalopathy, NICU, Unexplained Infertility and Trusting In The Universe
Q: Could you describe the moment you learned there were twins and how that affected the remainder of the pregnancy planning?
The eight-week scan showed two sacs, confirming twins, which was shocking given the prior expectation of a single baby. We were told about the DCDA (likely fraternal) twins and adjusted our plans for birth, including preferences for vaginal delivery if possible and avoiding unnecessary interventions, while staying realistic about higher risks associated with twins.

Q: Walk me through that process from the fertility journey to actually conceiving. What was the timeline and key turning points?
We pursued conception for about a year, consulted specialists after 10-12 months, and were diagnosed with unexplained infertility around 12-18 months. We tried IUI at a low cost, then eventually moved to IVF consideration, but conceived without IVF through IUI stimulation before moving to IVF as a plan if needed.

Q: Hi Anna, welcome to the podcast. Before we get into your episode, I'd love to know who is in your family and what is your current coffee order?
I'm Anna. My partner Tim, and our twin girls Romy and Esther, plus our dog Jeannie. My current coffee order is a soy latte on occasion, though I mostly drink chai and have reduced caffeine.
Julia: Overwhelm, Isolation, Two Under Two, Witching Hour, Family Dynamics, Dairy Farming, Releasing Toxic Gratitude and Finding Flow
Q: What did the birth of Jed feel like, given Toby's near- textbook first birth and Jed's surprisingly rapid arrival?
Jed's birth was incredibly fast and intense, happening in about 27 minutes, and it left me in shock as I processed what was happening, with no time to fully grasp the moment.
Julia: Overwhelm, Isolation, Two Under Two, Witching Hour, Family Dynamics, Dairy Farming, Releasing Toxic Gratitude and Finding Flow
Q: When did having a second baby enter your consciousness, and how did that shape your expectations of motherhood the first time around?
I always knew I'd have two close in age, but the reality hit hard when I became pregnant with Jed; it was exciting but also overwhelming, especially balancing farming duties and a very active toddler.
