Erick, we don’t know each other, but I’ve been guided into stoicism by you podcast, and I was worried about the misuse of stoicism to foment extremism and misogyny, so hearing your last episode about courage makes my heart lighter. Be sure you standing up is an incredibly powerful act of courage and thank you for being the voice for stoicism in its most core values.
Mostly feels like I’m being lectured to by a guy who can’t actually get his own life together.
This is the most narcissistic, self-grandiose boring drivel I’ve ever heard. The personal anecdotes are shallow and repetitive across episodes. I’d like to hear from some female stoics. Are there any? How does any of this relate to modern pressures on modern women? This is just another man mansplaining.
I didn’t know what to expect from this podcast - but it’s truly excellent. Cloward’s voice is amiable and soothing - but the themes are provocative and inspirational. I especially appreciate the quotations from the likes of Jung, Marcus Aurelius, and Epictetus. (But James Clear? Really? Not quite in the same pantheon.)
Really nice, concise, practical and above clear advice Erick gives. It has really helped me quite a lot in the past turbulent year. Small note perhaps: the introduction/household information before and after the actual content could be a little shorter; I find myself forwarding this as the info repeats itself over the episodes, which when listening to various episodes at a time is a bit cumbersome. But for the rest nothing but praise and gratitude.
