  • Honest, Real and Informative

I’ve followed Steve’s YouTube channel for a few years. It’s always honest, real and informative look at new magic. He consistently looks at books and products with a performer’s eye. I was happy and surprised that he started a podcast.

My only bit of feedback is that the interviews are way too long and rambling. Tighter would be much better and easier to finish. The interviews have nuggets to offer but they get lost in the ramble.

  • A brilliant, honest conversation

Just listened to the episode with Mark Elsdon - absolutely first class. Steve lets the conversation flow naturally, asks the right questions, and keeps it real without any of the usual fluff. I loved the relaxed pace and the genuine content over gimmicks. You can tell Steve’s a performer and artist himself, which really elevates the discussion. As someone who’s been into magic and mentalism for years (though my day jobs in opera and acting), this was a joy to listen to. Bravo!

  • My favourite magic related podcast 💕

Steve’s podcast is, quite simply, brilliant. The interviews are always superb. Steve has a knack of being able to burrow deeper into a subject than most, all whilst keeping it chatty and laid back. The latest episode with Jay Gilligan is a great example of how Steve brings in experts in what are often known as the “allied” arts and is able to talk shop even though these guests might not be experts in magic. It’s not that I don’t find interviews with magicians interesting, I really do, but I find... more

From Street Performer to Cirque du Soleil. Captain Frodo on The Art of Showmanship
Q: First of all, what was that journey from street performing to Cirque du Soleil like?
Frodo describes starting with his father, moving through street performance in Europe, learning the business side, then expanding into indoor and theater formats. The journey involved countless shows, adapting material for different venues, and eventually being invited to Cirque du Soleil after a long period of experimentation and collaboration; he emphasizes the surprising, almost out-of-nowhere nature of the Cirque invitation and the workout of craft over time.
Alexander Marsh
Q: How do you edit your routines to make them tighter?
I focus on the key elements and cut down the unnecessary parts, often using bullet points instead of scripts to keep performances fluid and engaging.
Alexander Marsh
Q: What created the choice for you to tour?
The urge to have my own tour came from my experience in live performance in theaters, where I wanted to create engaging shows that aligned with my style.
Charlie Frye. ...Better than a master of one.
Q: Did you ever find yourself, especially back in the day, getting drawn towards wondering whether you should do what you should do, or what you want to do?
Charlie discusses balancing commercial appeal with personal passion, emphasizing the importance of authenticity in performance.
