I love Adrian’s work and will check out Emma’s work when I finish all the apt books which is a taking a while, given his constant output it take time to catch up as he seems to be able to write faster than I can read
At first I didn’t have high expectations but after several episodes I can say that I like the podcast. I appreciate the fact there’s a deeper analysis of plots and characters and, more importantly, whether the discussed “old” books stand the test of time.
In addition to the above, I like the relaxed atmosphere - not a serious debate but rather a friendly conversation of two book enthusiasts and writers.
And thumbs up for superb audio quality.

Two hosts—Emma Newman and Adrian Tchaikovsky—create thoughtful, accessible conversations around SF and fantasy works, blending close readings with personal anecdotes and pop-culture comparisons. Episodes mix book and film analysis, world-building, and craft, often tying themes to broader cultural ideas, with an inviting, creator-friendly vibe. A notable strength is the duo's warm, collaborative dynamic paired with clear recommendations for fellow fleet members, plus occasional patron and live-event updates that foster a loyal community. The show stands out for its literary rigor balanced with enthusiasm, and for frequently revisiting classics alongside contemporary titles to spark cross-genre exploration.
