I’m a big fan of the bugle family of shows and Alice’s additions to it never cease to make my love for it grow. This show in particular is a great window into new media and content I was previously unfamiliar with!
Alice and her cohosts are delightful and I enjoy the different segments. The mines of urrr really resonates, consumed a lot of tropey fiction over the years and some hasn’t aged well.
I’ve just discovered this having come across Alice on the bugle. Thought she was very smart and funny on that so decided to give Realms ago and I absolutely love it.

A witty, genre-spanning discussion that centers on fantasy, sci‑fi, and speculative fiction through humorous banter, cultural critique, and deep dives into specific subgenres, tropes, and recent industry debates. Episodes weave together practical effects versus CGI, AI's role in publishing, moving cities in fiction, and genre crossovers (fantasy that reads as sci‑fi, urban fantasy, witch archetypes, and AI-related storytelling). A notable throughline is a love of classic and contemporary media, with guests often adding personal anecdotes, recommendations, and live-show plugs. The format blends thoughtful analysis with accessible pop culture references, making it appealing to readers and listeners who want smart takes delivered with warmth a... more
