  • It’s fine

Decent fan podcast. Tend to ramble a bit. Generally positive which I like, but I think they take that too far and it prevents them from offering criticism when called for.

  • Nailed it

Winding down vacation with my family and when I saw the run time of this week’s episode (#377), I decided to treat myself to a nice long run. I enjoyed the episode as always and decided it was time to write a review.

I love the Kraken but only started listening to your podcast in the last few years (have been following on Twitter since year 1 of the team). It’s your rapport. That is what sets you apart from other podcasts. That and you hold the team accountable as a fan while staying positive.... more

I don't mind the non-hockey talk stuff, you can do a entire episode on non-hockey stuff, many moons ago you did segments on Game of Thorns you can spoil all of Game of Thorns i don't care, here's a non-hockey question do you think that they should make Angry Birds CSI{Crime Scene Investigation}?

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Ep. 390 - Featuring Chris Peters and Kraken prospect Jakub Fibigr
Q: What makes Leo Carlson so special that he was pursued with an offer sheet worth around $18.5 million?
Peters explains Carlson's ceiling, the Ducks' risk-reward calculus, and why Carlson is central to Anaheim's plans, making it costly for any team to lose him despite Carlson not being an automatic top-dollar player.
Ep. 385 - Featuring ESPN's Emily Kaplan
Q: What are your thoughts on the growing involvement of investors like Melinda French Gates in hockey?
She frames it as a sign of the sport's rising profile and potential for sustainable growth in markets like Seattle, while noting the strategic importance of aligning ownership with team culture and long-term goals.
Ep. 385 - Featuring ESPN's Emily Kaplan
Q: What is Kaplan's take on the Kraken's current direction and leadership changes?
She suggests a need for cohesive identity and a clear, consistent path forward, citing Canes-style conviction as a successful model of building and sticking to a strategy.
Ep. 381 - Technology Is Hard, Draft Lottery Frustration, and MAILBAG
Q: What does a big off-season move look like for the Kraken, and is it feasible given their cap and roster?
The hosts discuss the need for a top-line forward and supporting pieces, noting that a single big move may not be enough; a combination of a high-end signing plus some complementary players could be necessary, and there is skepticism about securing blockbuster deals this off-season.
Ep. 377 - The Ron Francis Era comes to an end
Q: What was your knee-jerk reaction to the news that Ron Francis is stepping down from the Kraken, and how immediate were your thoughts on the leadership change?
The hosts express that Francis's departure feels like a controversial move with potential cultural and strategic implications, noting that Botterill already had influence and questioning whether this is a broader, deeper shift or a partial, performative adjustment.
