  • Listener’s perspective

I wrote this off the back of the introduction of the guest for the episode titled “Community batteries - can the networks deliver what it says on the tin?”

    - The interviewer brings up a topic in the intro, then immediately discounts it as something that won’t be discussed in today’s interview

    - The intro seems to be about ‘what the interviewer knows’ - they would do better to focus on what the _listener_ likely doesn’t know

    - Mentions an article written by the interviewer earlier in the week - ... more

  • Solar Insiders

When the offshore wind debate first started there was one particular titbit that I’ll never forget - the rain water washes chemicals off the Wind Turbine blades which causes Whales to become sterilized.

  • Generally fantastic any chance of listener questions?

I found the recent Engie's Ryan Wavish so frustrating to listen to I was literally shouting at well , nothing really… seriously paying people to turn off their solar?!! We don’t want curtailment! Why wouldn’t they offer free electricity to those consumers like OVO to try and change demand habits or even better use the money to install grid scale batteries themselves to improve grid stability! 😡

  • Fabulous content, technical quality not so much

As the title says I going the content fascinating and well researched. However most of my listening is on the car and the changes in volume during the show between presenters is annoying and takes away a lot of the pleasure of listening to this great show.

  • Great topics- audio quality no so great.

This is a great podcasts but I find the audio quality particularly for guests to be a little muffled. Can you please look to improve it?

The public power company plugging the gaps
Q: What changes have you made to better support businesses with longer-term contracts and demand management?
We introduced multi-period time-of-use products, longer fixed-price contracts, and a VPP capability to integrate customer assets and enable demand response, aiming to align customer demand with evolving supply.
The public power company plugging the gaps
Q: So talk to us about the Easy Electric program and how people use it.
The platform consolidates information, rebates, and service connections, guiding households from understanding electrification benefits to choosing an installer and executing installations, with strong emphasis on trust and reduced upfront costs.
How storage and knowledge can make energy "pretty much free"
Q: What does net 100% renewables mean in Flow Power's system?
Net 100% renewables means Flow assigns a customer to a renewable project so their annual load is effectively drawn from that project, with the goal over time of moving toward true zero where consumption is continuously matched with renewables, potentially through on-site storage and real-time adjustments.
How saving energy can save businesses a fortune
Q: What are the main sources of energy wastage at industrial facilities?
The main sources include compressed air leaks, steam and water leaks, poorly chosen refrigeration set points, and unnecessary operation of boilers and lights; fixing these can yield meaningful savings.
Big trouble in the small-scale battery rebate
Q: Do you feel like you've got the government's ear on this?
Yes, there's a sense that the government is engaged with the industry and motivated to ensure the program's success, understanding the need for adjustments as issues arise.
