  • Ruth Marcus is an out of touch racist

Why on earth would you platform the out of touch, anti Muslim racism of Ruth Marcus? Her views on Mamdani are precisely why the Democratic Party is on life support and hated by its own base.

  • TBD Tech and Gun Manufacturing

Thought provoking discussion on marketing of guns. I hope the results of this lawsuit is that marketing guns to youth becomes illegal like tobacco and other harms.

  • David Plotz thinks he is objective

But he is really a knee jerk apologist for liberalism. His constant exhortations about how fair minded he is while he takes swipes at progressives seems self hating and unnecessary. Exhausting to listen to and it is annoying the number of assumptions he makes about the listeners and how little he thinks of us. Emily Bazelon is the saving grace. John Dickerson tends to live in the same bubble as David.

  • Very Disappointing Episode

The episode about Trump voters was awful. The guest spent the entire time insulting liberals to prove that liberals shouldn’t think Trumpsters are delusional racists. Frank Buckley offered zero insight into how Trump MAGA are anything other than delusional racists.

  • Sound quality??

Love the pod, but… What happened to the volume?? It’s so loud that it can hardly be heard.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Death, Sex & Money - Was Dad Being a Creep? And Other Childhood Memories to Decipher
Q: What role did therapy and community play in your process of understanding your family history?
Therapy and Al-Anon helped me process estrangement and boundaries, while a supportive partner and friends provided the emotional safety to explore painful memories and reclaim my sense of self.
Death, Sex & Money - Was Dad Being a Creep? And Other Childhood Memories to Decipher
Q: How did the Icebox rumor affect you in adolescence, and what did you learn from that experience?
The rumor dehumanized me, labeled me as 'slut' despite no actions to justify it, and it taught me how fragile and cruel social narratives can be for a girl, shaping my later understanding of sexuality and self-respect.
What Next - What the Pool’s Reflecting
Q: How does the reflecting pool episode fit into larger patterns of governance and symbolism in DC under this administration?
It exemplifies how public spaces become canvases for political messaging, where rapid decisions and branding conflicts reveal deeper struggles over democratic norms, accountability, and the meaning of national monuments.
What Next - What the Pool’s Reflecting
Q: What did you learn from that broader context you read about regarding authoritarianism and capital cities?
That controlling the capital city is seen as a decisive symbol of power in authoritarian regimes, and the act of reshaping a capital can be leveraged to project control and intimidate both domestic audiences and international observers.
Care and Feeding | Slate's parenting show - Encore! How To Get Your Freak On After Kids
Q: Rebecca, how do you balance overwhelmed parents' need for closeness with the everyday chaos of life?
Identify a realistic, non-judgmental starting point, like a scheduled intimacy block or non-sexual closeness, and gradually build toward increased closeness as both partners feel safe and understood.
