  • Volume please

It’s amazing that I can hear the adds perfectly but the dialogue is so quiet. Please turn up the volume I can always turn it down at my end. I just can’t hear it. why? Is this to make the adds louder. Ruins the entire program.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Business Weekend | 21 June
Q: What is driving the current skepticism about the government's energy and tax reforms?
Experts suggest that the combination of CGT changes, discretionary trusts, and potential biotechs subsidies creates uncertainty and could deter investment, while the energy policy debate raises questions about long-term supply, pricing, and regional security.
Business Weekend | 14 June
Q: What did you think of the first day of SpaceX trading and the hype around the IPO?
Investors noted strong retail demand and significant upside potential, but cautioned that price support may wane as escrow shares come into circulation and the long-term profitability and execution risk remain key variables.
Business Weekend | 7 June
Q: Can you tell me, therefore, that central bank forecasting is more art than science?
Forecasting relies on models and history, but ultimately requires judgment about where the economy is going and how policy should respond, rather than being purely a scientific calculation.
Business Weekend | 26 April
Q: What would you require to build another refinery to overcome supply worries?
Wyatt pointed to the need for strong government policy support and favorable long-term economics, noting that safety nets and incentives would be critical to making a new refinery financially viable against imports and declining domestic demand.
Business Weekend | 26 April
Q: Given the economics of your refinery, would it be commercially sensible to build another refinery in Australia?
Wyatt explained that while the refinery is viable with government safety nets like the Fuel Security Services payments, building new refineries is extremely capital-intensive, takes 5-10 years to construct, and may require a 20-year payback, making large new builds difficult in the current environment.
