  • Lost all credibility

This used to be one of my favorite beauty podcasts. Interesting discussions with interviews with smart, credible people. Until that is, giving airtime to the EWG! A group that has almost single handedly caused the most fear amongst beauty consumers and consistently sprouted fake and misinformation. No real beauty lover or expert would ever promote this group.

Inside CEW Innovators Awards 2025
Q: What does innovation mean in this context, and how is it distinct from trends?
Innovation is rooted in deep biological understanding and meaningful, measurable benefits, not just buzzwords. It involves exploring how biology and signaling pathways drive product performance, with tools like exosome research and novel delivery mechanisms guiding substantive improvements rather than fleeting trends.
Inside CEW Innovators Awards 2025
Q: How was the evaluation process designed for selecting Innovators?
Submissions came from category-specific nominations, including peer recommendations. A panel reviewed many candidates, cross-checking company affiliations and ingredients, and selected winners based on demonstrated scientific impact and potential for leadership within the industry.
Inside CEW Innovators Awards 2025
Q: What gap in the industry led to the creation of these awards?
The CEW and NYSCC observed a long-standing under-recognition of women behind-the-scenes in beauty science. They created the Innovators Awards to highlight the scientists and technologists in R&D, formulation, and related fields, culminating in a formal report and a celebratory event.
The Branding Balancing Act with Camille Moore
Q: How should brands balance authenticity with growth on social media?
Camille argues that brands should build in public, stay true to their voice, and treat branding as a long-term strategic discipline rather than chasing every trend; consistency and a clear brand framework trump quick, shiny results.
From Infant Immunity to Cancer Therapy: The Power of the Microbiome with Dr. Stephanie Culler of Persephone Biosciences
Q: What are the biggest white spaces in microbiome science right now and how is Persephone addressing them?
The biggest gaps are translating microbiome data into actionable products and understanding not just which microbes are present but how they function and affect health; Persephone focuses on clinically validating microbiome manipulation strategies and developing products that can engraft beneficial bacteria in infants and potentially in cancer therapy contexts.
