  • Lost all credibility

This used to be one of my favorite beauty podcasts. Interesting discussions with interviews with smart, credible people. Until that is, giving airtime to the EWG! A group that has almost single handedly caused the most fear amongst beauty consumers and consistently sprouted fake and misinformation. No real beauty lover or expert would ever promote this group.

  • Amazing!

I am a board certified dermatologist and don’t often find skin related podcasts interesting but I can’t get enough of this. The host is remarkably intelligent. I have recommended to all of my colleagues.

Building a Category Then Challenging It: Alli Webb’s New Vision for Hair
Q: What would you tell younger founders about going through the journey of scaling and learning from mistakes?
Try a lot of different things, make mistakes, and learn what you like and don't like; prioritize fulfillment and daily energy over chasing big financial outcomes; money will follow if you're genuinely passionate and purposeful.
Building a Category Then Challenging It: Alli Webb’s New Vision for Hair
Q: How do you balance branding and messaging with staying true to the product, especially in a crowded hair and beauty market?
Keep a clear brand DNA, avoid over-extending the product line, and ensure the messaging reflects the authentic experience and outcomes customers actually get; be open to evolution but stay aligned with core values.
Building a Category Then Challenging It: Alli Webb’s New Vision for Hair
Q: What is that starting place and that mindset of like, when you want to create a brand on that scale?
Focus on building something you love, validate with customers, grow gradually with a crawl-walk-run approach, and ensure you have the right team and systems before expanding.
Building a Category Then Challenging It: Alli Webb’s New Vision for Hair
Q: No, it's truly a pleasure. And I can't wait to dive in to everything that you're doing now, but I would love to have you walk us down memory lane if you could talk to us about Drybar, because Drybar was a phenomena. What got you into the haircare industry to begin with and where did it all begin for you?
It started from personal need and a love of hair; I had moved to LA, started a mobile blowout business to offer an affordable, great experience, and eventually turning that mobile concept into Drybar with the right price point, ambiance, and service that made a category possible.
Precision Care for Acne and Eczema with Oliver Liu of Hypothesis
Q: What should consumers realistically expect when starting a microbiome-focused routine?
Results build gradually, especially for acne, with meaningful improvement typically visible within one to two weeks and best results over eight weeks of consistent use; eczema improvements can occur sooner for some individuals, but long-term management focuses on balancing the three drivers of the itch-scratch cycle.
