I cannot believe the show will not go on, I absolutely loved it, loved every episode and will listen to all of them again (and again probably). Thank you so much for all the hours of delight and wonder and awe, and laughter ! This is very good company indeed. I wish you all the best in your future endeavors and hopefully as much fun -or even more!- as this.
I was always immersed, always delighted and surprised—lovely, lovely, lovely…
I will miss this show very, very, very much.
can only assume some shortsighted beancounting BBC idiot with bad taste and a grudge against the arts has hold of the purse strings. this programme could have gone on forever — it just works, it's always fresh, the creators obviously love making it. really hope someone else is smart enough to fund it.
I sent this message to the people at Radio 4 who have decided to cut it: ‘Short Cuts is where I go to take a break from the grim churn of the news cycle. It is far from frivolous or escapist; it is like reading beautifully-turned poetry after a day reading everyday prose. It is a breath.’
