  • A life changing podcast like no other

Grateful for so much inspiration and detailed narration of the life and word of Jesus Christ according to the orthodox tradition. Raised as a Catholic, listening to Dr. Jeannie has changed my faith for the better and has brought the word of the Lord close to my heart. A deep understanding of the history, the law of the times as well as the interpretation of the Fathers of the Church are provided for each verse, such a blessing, so much peace to my soul.

  • Kind providence

For the last two months I’ve been reading the writings of John; Gospel, Letters and Apocalypse. I heard about Dr. Jeannie on Eric Metaxis’s podcast and browsing around I ran into this treasure trove. I have always loved church history and the Bible. Needless to say I will start at the beginning of the live podcast and dedicate a notebook to these teachings. Kind providence led me here. God Bless!!!

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Why Study the Bible?
Q: Can you recommend a good Orthodox hermeneutics book?
We don't do a lot of modern hermeneutics; mostly we read the Fathers of the Church for our understanding.
Why Study the Bible?
Q: What modern translation do you recommend?
We'll talk about translations and the good points and bad points of different translations later.
Why Study the Bible?
Q: Are you wearing blue in honor of the celebration today of the Nativity of the Theotokos?
No, I wear blue because Father Soroka likes it.
Why Don't I Understand the Bible?
Q: What does it mean to think Orthodox?
Orthodox Christianity is based on preserving the mind of the early church, known as Fronima.
Why Didn't the Risen Christ Appear to His Enemies?
Q: What is the significance of saying God raised Jesus?
Saying God raised Jesus can be misleading, as it implies that Christ could not raise Himself. The early church used this language to indicate God's approval of Jesus, who had been crucified, but it does not suggest that Jesus lacked the power to raise Himself.
