  • Mind-blowing

If you enjoy learning about spiritual things and are happy to have your preconceptions challenged, this show is highly recommended. Listening to this show has had a huge influence on me, so great that I equate it to when I began to read C.S. Lewis and J.R.R. Tolkien - from that moment I couldn’t see the world or think in the same way again.

Unapologetically from an Orthodox Christian perspective, the information presented here is incredibly deep and thorough, but at the same time, the show is v... more

  • Takis Theology

You guys are like those takis chip/snack things: really good at first, questionable the next day, spicy as heck, not quite sure I like you but painfully addictive.

  • Insightful but a mixed bag

This is a fantastic podcast for people of all stripes. It has helped me look at scripture in a whole different way than I grew up with, which is good. However some of the episodes are so academic that it either goes completely over my head as a layman or I just zone out completely. Hence the title. Thank you Fathers and everyone helping with the show behind the scenes!

  • Catholic and digging this

Really like how they dive deep into tradition and fearlessly dive into ancient history and pagan origins and contrasts it Judaism, not just secularism. As a Catholic, gleaning the Orthodox pov gives me ability to see things with what feels like two eyes, everything in 3d now… really cool and grateful. Keep doing what you doing and also praying for our churches to one day breathe with both lungs again. With peace and love,

  • Interesting but marred

These talks have interesting material in them—and because of that I give them 4 stars—but they are marred by the hosts’ continual silly and unmanly sniggering and giggling. Fr Stephen is the worst offender here. I don’t know the cause of it: I suspect it’s a nervous habit, connected with how he thinks what he says will be taken. For example, what he might say about what others (supposedly) think might sound a little snide, so I suppose he covers it with a giggle. And I suppose the giggling habit... more

Soon the Water Will Come
Q: Could that be a reference to the nestling ritual, returning in the end times?
The eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage described in Matthew 24 points to a mundane existence without awareness of impending judgment, contrasting sharply with the antediluvian wickedness.
I Will Make a Distinction

In the new covenant, things are purged fully rather than just withheld, but we still need to bless objects because we remain sinners.
Every Stick of Wood in the Old Testament
Q: How does Christ's cosmic atonement act in our lives, given the daily struggle of being a Christian and repenting?
The cosmic atonement signifies that although the atonement has happened, individuals still need to live their lives, thus partaking in the ongoing process of repentance and spiritual struggle. It emphasizes that baptism is the starting point of this journey, which involves constant participation in the life of Christ as we face daily sin and challenges.
