  • A Must Listen For Any Sci-Fi Fan

I've been listening to Sci-Fi Talk since 2008. Tony Tellado is one of the BEST interviewers in the businsess. Another great aspect of the podcast is Tony not only interviews television and film actors, but also professionals involved in almost every sector of film and television production, including directors, producers, showrunners, writers, cinematographers, composers, authors, makeup artists, etc. Sci-Fi Talk is always a source of fascinating insight inside the minds of top genre creatives.... more

  • Love the podcast! But / is not a backslash!!!

I've been listening to your podcast for years, and thought I should give you a review.

Great podcast! I do a podcast, too, called The Walking Dead Talk Through, but that's not why I thought I'd give you a review.

One minor nitpick, Tony, and something that makes me wince every time I hear you say it. "/" is a slash, or forward slash. A backslash is "\". I know I'm 100% right - I am a web systems analyst by profession. Any slash in a URL is a slash or forward slash. Please correct this so I sto... more

Amber Benson's The Witches Of Echo Park
Q: What else is coming up besides the books, and how is your writing schedule shaping up?
Amber explains she's continuing the new book series while juggling directing, short films, and a new project, with a focus on expanding the Calliope Reader Jones universe and keeping up with multiple creative outlets.
Kelly Hu
Q: You're going in to play her. Did you have an idea how to go based on the script, or did you rely on Wes and maybe Sam to guide you as to where to zoom in on her?
I relied a lot on the direction from the writers and producers, using the script for a general sense but letting the directors guide the specific nuances of Shiva's icy yet sometimes human demeanor, especially given the remote recording setup.
Author Brandon Sanderson
Q: Now, you mentioned The Wheel of Time. As far as what was left for you, was it similar to what Frank Herbert left for Kevin J. Anderson when they were finishing Dune?
There are notes, completed scenes, dictations from Jordan, and an outline; it's a mix of material that requires reconstruction, with direction from the editor, yet it leaves significant room for creative input to complete the story.
A Look Back at Logan’s Score with Composer Marco Beltrami
Q: Did you reuse any themes from The Wolverine, or approach Logan differently due to the new tone?
He notes that the instruction was to be completely different in vibe, with some earlier motifs adapted only where fitting, alongside new material that better served the Logan narrative.
A Look Back at Logan’s Score with Composer Marco Beltrami
Q: Did you contact him for Logan, or how did you two reconnect to work together again?
Beltrami explains that Mangold was editing and tried different approaches, and he revisited a shared musical language from previous collaborations, ultimately selecting a minimalist, piano-based approach to reflect Logan's loneliness and the film's mystery.
